Delicious food, cocktails. Very friendly staff. Loved it!

We live in Charleston S.C. where we have many fine restaurants available and have eaten at many. We were up in the area last weekend for my daughters Grad school graduation. I had asked my son to find a nice restaurant for us to celebrate the occasion. He said he chose Alexander’s because it had a great rating and looked nice. I want to say from the moment we arrived until we left our visit was perfect. The service was outstanding, the food was thoughtfully well presented and more importantly everything we ate was delicious. The soft shell crab was one of the best we have had. The wait staff was attentive without being overly so. Quiet and helpful. The restaurant is elegant and intimate...the bathrooms/kitchen are well situated away from dining area. Kudos to Alexander’s. If we lived in Roanoke we would be regulars. Thank you for making a special occasion a memorable one.

We reserved a table for our 35th anniversary celebration because we had been there before and loved it. This visit was the opposite. We were largely ignored in deference to a larger group seated next to us. Waitress was very leisurely in waiting on us. We were in no rush, but what should have been, maybe, a 90 minute meal experience stretched into over 2 hours due to inattentiveness! We were not happy and were very surprised. This needs to improve before we consider eating here again.

First, it’s a lovely quaint restaurant in a beautiful older building. You must make a reservation but this is done to enhance your dinning experience to its fullest potential. It gives the wait staff and chef time to give each dinner there full attention. Making for a truly lovely evening. The staff is exceptionally friendly and does not once faulter in catering to your every need. From checking your coat at the door to never letting you glass go empty. The chef is a true talent. Serving the most perfectly designed and cooked meals and because of the limited number of tables and reservations is able to focus on each dish. Creating culinary perfection. Timing the arrival of each dish as if reading your mind. This was my first visit and all I have to say is I can’t wait to go back.
