This was a fun stop on my business trip! The food was fantastic, and you get a bit of a "show" as well with the staff sort of performing through the dinner. Let them tie your bib up and dig in! Save room for desert! Pecan pie! Mmmm
Had a delightful dinner at the tavern tonight wit my wife. It started with sweet potato bread that was out of this world. We began with a very good corn soup and a nice salad. Our entrees were the Watermans Supper-excellent crab cakes. We had spoon cornbread and it was great. My dessert was a delicious pecan pie. The service here was excellent and I highly recommend this restaurant.
Hands down my favorite of the four taverns. The seafood theme is a nice change of pace from offerings elsewhere. Staff is friendly and personable, providing explanation and background on the customs of the time and meal. The sweet potato bread is one of the best breads I've ever had...a must try!
We had a wonderful time here. The food was good and the service and experience were excellent. We highly recommend a visit.
Our server was "Pooh" who said she had been there for 20-30 years I believe. I don't see how that's possible given her youthful appearance but she clearly was very experienced with staying in character for the time period and taking care of us.
This is now my favorite eatery in Colonial Williamsburg, the Kings Arms being a close second. The tavern is one of the many restored buildings in CW, and the food is colonial style. The food is pricey, but the portions are generous. You will be entertained by a wandering minstrel, and you may get a visit from Christiana’s daughter during your meal. You will also learn what it really means to “tie one on.” Be sure to make a reservation well in advance.
