Sapor

The previous restaurant that was in this space was one of my absolute favorites in Port Angeles, so when I heard that it was remodeled with a new owner, name, and menu I got very nervous. I'm very glad to report that the changes only enhanced the experience. The layout of the main dining area is still very comfortable, cozy, and private, but now the colors are both classier and brighter. My group of 4 all found something to be excited about on the menu and we were all very impressed by what we ordered. We usually discourage our kid from ordering the mac & cheese off the kid's menu but theirs is the béchamel topped gnocchi, baked in a deep dish, and topped with cheese and breadcrumbs (a dish off the small plates Bistro menu). I went for the steelhead and was extremely impressed. It had a nice even sear and was perfectly cooked throughout. The same can be said for my wife's porkchops.

I was concerned about how I would feel about the space Sapor is now located, having gone through the decades of changes. I really like it! The white and gold decor fits much better than I thought, and gives it a more retro, rather than ultra modern, feel. It goes fabulously with the cocktails and my husband said if he goes missing, to look for him here first. The bartender was knowledgeable and took the time to find out what our drink preferences were before making recommendations. I look forward to going back again soon!

The drinks were good. We ordered a Manhattan and an aviation (off menu)

The mushroom soup was very creamy - less mushroomy more creamy so depending on your taste this could be good or bad.

The steelhead with buckwheat was amazing. We also had the flank steak with a fantastic sauce

We had both the pear and the lol dessert. I liked the lol with the ice cream from the pear :)

I appreciate a good atmosphere which was there. Parking was easy in the lot.

Recently opened Sapor is a shining gem to the Port Angeles dining scene. Updated decor, lovely cocktails, incredible wine list and fabulous food. Yum!!

Nice new place in PA. Total remodel, beautifully done. Very friendly staff. Food creative and very good. Upscaled prices but fitting for the experience
