Just had an early dinner at what was easily the best cafe I've been to in forever! My kid and I were heading up to see if we could get a peek at Mt St Helens (sadly disappointed there due to cloud cover, unfortunately) and researched a bit before heading out from Vancouver. Thank goodness we did, as we were able to avoid the shady dive across the road and instead had a superb experience at the Lone Fir Cafe! Food was great, service was excellent and the gift shop is not to be missed! I'll be making it a point to visit here again on my next trip west!

The staff is excellent! Love Johnny, the perfectly clean establishment & a lovely glass of Chocolate Porter, but I have never seen my husband remove bread from his hamburger before, or say that a burger was "too greasy" for him.

I have never seen a BLT with "avocado spread" spread so very thin, on such very thin white ("sourdough"?) bread, with paper thin whispers of tomato! It made me wonder if they had run out of real sourdough bread, and avocados, and tomatoes! I asked for crisp bacon and the bacon was perfect! However, $15 for a thin, petite BLT, with barely warm skinny fries, was irritating.

Skip the mushroom appetizer, canned mushrooms deep fried are a little slimy. We paid $60 and left a $10 tip, because Johnny was lovely, and the waitress whose name I missed, was kind & swift.

Charming people, good onion rings, crisp bacon was great, liked the Porter. (Wish we had sandwiches from across the street and drinks & onion rings from Lone Fir Cafe.)

I am betting if & when we return, pizza and beer, or breakfast with the very nice bacon, will be a better experience! Very lovely place, just not my favorite first introduction.

This is an unexpected gem in Cougar!
We were looking for a place to shower and rest after a couple of days of camping up by Mt Adams. I wasn’t expecting much but BOY was I ever surprised! The cabin we stayed in was excellent! Tastefully decorated, clean, and AIR CONDITIONING to boot!
As for the food, I’m vegan and their Button Mushroom Burger with the Impossible patty, sans cheese and truffle sauce is delicious! Service is excellent, Karla and Misty are super friendly and helpful!
Their onion rings are tasty and their cocktail drinks are better than most I’ve had in fancier restaurants.
I’ve always enjoyed making treks to the Mount Saint Helens and after this trip I plan on visiting more often just so I can visit this wonderful place!
