The rolls are huge. Got two rolls for two people and we were pretty full. They were really, really good too. The atmosphere is unique and cool. There’s a more quaint dimly lit seating area with plants and then a brighter more lively seating area around the sushi bar.
TIP: if no tables are available, walk back to the drink bar. They have the full menu there.
So, first off I'm not a sushi fan. I came here for a work event, otherwise I would have walked right past. We had a few different kinds of sake, a large amount of sushi, and a spicy ginger chicken dish shared among the party.
The sake was good (I'd relate the kinds we had to strong white wines, one being dry and the other sweet), the snow crab roll I ate was tasty, and the ginger chicken (I believe it had a thicker tempura batter on it) was good as well.
Everyone that I was with liked the sushi A LOT, with at least one person saying it was better than what they've found in San Francisco, if that helps as a reference.
I love Umi. The food is always fresh and delicious. Usually we sit at the sushi bar after the dinner rush which is the most fun. Today we sat at a table in the back. We had a reservation and seated pretty quickly despite being tardy. The staff was kind with great recommendations. However, the table and the booths were a bit hard to sit at and it was a little hard to hear the conversation between my group. Overall, the staff is great, food is even better and the restaurant is very clean with nice bathrooms!
Excellent sushi rolls in a vibrant space. A colleague and I hit Umi Sake House after a day of training in Seattle and couldn’t have been happier with the food and ambience. The rolls are SUPER-interesting (and the list of rolls is massive) so there’s something for everyone from a traditional Spicy Tuna Roll to a “Dragon Blood Roll”.
We split 3 of their special rolls between us and it was PLENTY of food for 2 - all 3 rolls were delicious and interesting with a mix of traditional sushi and ingredients like bacon.
You could eat here for a month and never have the same roll twice so I’ll be back next time I’m in town to try something new.
I always have a good experience here. Very fun atmosphere and great sushi. Go during happy hour so you can get more for less! Crunchy rolls will leave you smiling every time. Street parking can be a challenge.
