Family in town so we picked a new place to try. This place has great reviews on Spokane Food Finder. Sadly the brisket fell VERY short of expectations and all the rave reviews. That’s what my mom ordered and it was nearly all fat, hardly any edible meat on it and what little meat there was was chewy and yuck. Tried to take a pic but with the darkness it just blurred.

I had the nachos with brisket. It was basically a pile of spicy nacho cheese and some chips. All the chips were soggy because there was WAY too much cheese. Wasn’t a fan of that spicy so the extra chips would have helped. Paid $5 extra for brisket and there was basically none on the nachos and since there was barely any meat the cheese was slathered over it all so that you couldn’t even see it. That felt like a rip off. Since it was happy hour maybe they cut corners for cost but not happy to have paid for meat that I didn’t get, had I gotten it, it would have probably just been fat.

Our adult son ordered the brisket au jus sandwich and while one half was good, the second half of the sandwich was all fat and he couldn’t finish it.

When I asked the server about it since 3 people had brisket and weren’t happy. I asked if we could get some different pieces, she asked the cook who told her it’s the butt of the brisket and they don’t cut off the fat. That’s fine but give more brisket then as we didn’t come to pay for inedible fat, or get a new brisket out. We came for a meal and my mom left without eating a full meal because the fat was so gross and the meat that was there was rubbery. I have never had brisket like that before and we enjoy good BBQ. Burgers aren’t housemade, just thrown in a smoker and then refrozen per the waitress asking about the burgers before we went with the brisket.

Really have no idea where the rave reviews came from as 3 adults left not thrilled with their meal. We definitely won’t be back for dinner, breakfast maybe. Our young son loved his biscuits and gravy. My daughter and I had the max and cheese as a side and we enjoyed that.

The waitress was great, very attentive service and very kind but the food was not great and not at all worth the prices charged.

I was sad to see Dogtown Taphouse gone and always nervous about an unknown quantity. No pix, no reviews, nothing on the Yelp. That being said, it took no time to convince me my fears were misplaced. Just the smells coming out of this place were worth the trip. Menu had a nice selection of meats and of particular interest, they had Italian sausage on the menu as opposed to the traditional German. Since we wanted to try a little of everything, we opted for the combination platter. It was 4 different 1/2 pound servings of meat and four sides. Obviously we had the brisket plus ribs, sausage, and pulled pork. Each was lightly, perfectly smoked and for the most part moist though the brisket was a tad dry for my taste. Three sauces came with, a tangy red, mustard, and traditional sweet sauce. Each one awesome in their own way. I don't typically like mustard sauces but I'd eat this one all day and most of the night. Sides were each very well done, too. Coleslaw was traditional mayo based with a nice zing. Mac & cheese was plenty tasty and plenty cheesy, too. Potato salad was very traditional but lacked salt & pepper which was easily remedied. Cornbread was just okay firm but dry--needed some honey butter or something. It was a $78 platter enough for two plus leftovers. Not the best value but the flavors easily compensated. Would def eat here again and again!!

Very family friendly. Went for lunch and kids karaoke and tried the brisket nachos. They were so good, the brisket literally melted in your mouth. The kiddos got the chicken Mac and cheese to share and it was kid approved! Will be back for more.
