Such a lovely, happy environment! It is the cheerful, courteous, energetic, and attentive disposition of ALL of the employees that made my dining experience a stellar one.
The menu offers a unique selection of breakfast items that are huge in portion size. When our server brought to the table the "Viennese" coffee that I ordered, what a spectacular sight it was! My eyeballs popped out of my head! Such a beautiful presentation in a pretty glass- the ginormous size of it with four inches of swirled whipped cream heaped on top. Yummy!
As for my constructive criticism- the chairs should be replaced for they are awfully uncomfortable. They have hard wooden seats with no cushioning. What is it about Bellingham that 85% or so of restaurant owners choose "basic" metal chairs or wooden bistro-type seating?? (For example, B-Town Kitchen & Raw Bar has upholstered seats of which enhances the dining experience.)
However, putting this aside, I had a wonderful breakfast time of which contributed to me starting my day in a happy way!
Came with a friend and were glad we found this place. The interior is decorated beautifully, and has a rustic feeling to it. Seating is comfortable and there's lots of natural light coming in from the windows all around. Food tasted delicious and homemade in an excellent way. Orange juice tasted like it was freshly squeezed- so good. Coffee was normal. Our server was friendly and likeable. Our water and coffee was filled without needing to ask. Will be back!
Great breakfast/brunch option in Bellingham on your way down to Seattle. Baked omelette is a must - get pancakes with it. Friendly and attentive service.
Weekend serves breakfast only till 3pm. Wonderful warm friendly staff . Great breakfast joint. First time for me to have corn beef this good. The corn beef is slightly savoury and super tender. Fluffy pancakes. All the ingredients in eggs Nicole blend and compliment each other. Birch Door Cafe is definitely a place my family and I will go back to again and again.
First visit after hearing rave reviews and we hit it perfectly just after a rush at 11 a.m. First of all, the interior design is spot on: flooring, lighting, wallpaper; and although you can't hear the music in the main dining room, it's terrific. Service from hostess to server had been flawless (Emily had just the right level of sass). My son devoured the white chocolate raspberry pancakes which were a special. I had the Viennese coffee and it was just the right level of savory.
