Hamilton's Tavern 1840

This place is absolutely a must if you’re in Harpers Ferry! It is a city worthy restaurant in a cute little town. The prices are very reasonable, especially for the quality of the food and service. The deviled egg appetizer is incredible, we also had their steak and gourmet Mac n cheese trio, and then indulged in their bread pudding. We left full and very happy! The staff and owners also make you feel very welcome, they’re super friendly and go out of their way to connect with you. Even the chef (part owner) came out at the end of our meal to say hello. I can’t say enough about this place, definitely recommend making a reservation as it is limited in space. Do yourself a favor and go check this place out!

I visited Harpers Ferry for the first time a few days ago with my friend, and came across this place. SUPER HAPPY we decided to eat at Hamilton’s Tavern!!!!! ????????. When I first walked in I felt so welcomed by the people who work there, and the ambience alone had it’s own welcoming feeling. I absolutely love the Decour it fit right in with the towns history! There was so much love, dedication and time put into the flavors of the steak I got and the burger my friend ordered, it didn’t taste like ‘restaurant’ food if you know what I mean. The flavors of everything I ate stood out alone as if I was eating at my grandmas home! The owners of the restaurant, cooks and hosts personally took the time to come by the table and chat with my friend and I. Amanda was our server and she was so warm with excellent service, I am going to specifically make the drive from Virginia to West Virginia to eat here often. I will be back for my birthday in November, I’m turning 40 and what better place to celebrate but the Hamilton’s tavern. Thank you for such wonderful hospitality and the food was delicious I highly recommend it, even the guests at the table next to us told us they make the drive from DC to eat here. If you don’t try it you’re missing out! ☺️ I can’t wait to see Anthony and his wonderful husband again, you all alone brought a smile to our evening! You all should be VERY proud of what you have accomplished! ☺️????

We had a fabulous experience from the day we made reservations. We let them know we were bringing our dog and they made the best accommodations for us. Sat us in the rear patio where it was quiet and shaded. Once we got there, the staff was very hospitable and even provided our dog with water and her own requested meal (a beef burger exactly how she liked it cooked personally served by the chef!)

Food is Exceptional and the staff are all on the top of their game! Highly recommend the Mediterranean Shrimp Salad. You will not find a better place to have a lovely dinning experience in all of Harper's Ferry. Definitely a recommended stop for those with a discerning taste for great food!

My entire family was very surprised at the uniqueness of the dishes here. We each tried a different dish and they all were incredibly savory and well presented. Try the braised short ribs, corn soup, and finish with the bacon and banana bread pudding. Prices were extremely affordable; the same meal in DC would be double. The chef visited our table and the service was exceptional! Complementary wine. Need I say more?
