Appalachia Kitchen

Food was good, but overpriced in my opinion. The menu is also very limited with only about 4 entre options. We read there were sunset views, but it's actually on the wrong side of the mountain for sunset. Service was lacking despite being 1 of 4 parties in the whole place. They mixed up our drink orders, said they'd comp the wrong drink they brought out but still ended up charging us for it anyway. I also saw a server drop some glasses right in the lobby. Hopefully it was just an off night for them....

Food was great and waitress was professional and attentive. Was looking forward to a future visit to try something else on menu. Then my girlfriend and I got home and looked at the receipt. They totaled the bill with tax and then for some reason added approximately 15% to the total.
The copy I signed was the typical line for tip and total then signature. We were ripped off. I left a vm at the restaurant for the manager but have not received any call back. I just received my visa statement weeks later which included not one but two charges three days apart for two different amounts. Wow, they don’t stop at double tips. Beware of this place.

Two weeks later: Now it unfolds. New manager contacts me to figure out error and correct. Said he was new. So old manager didn’t return my call. Ok.
My girlfriend and I also patronized the Torques restaurant and had a bill almost identical to the Appalachian restaurant. We were not made aware that Appalachian kitchen serves both. Shared the same credit card transaction process. Ok. That’s why two transactions on cc statement from Appalachian kitchen. Everything good. Will definitely eat at both places again!!!!

Eh! Not the worst place to eat but not wowed. My filet was cooked well but I always get well done and it was still tender. My daughter ordered medium and it was more medium rare to rare. The bordelaise sauce was flavorless. The fingerling potatoes and carrots were boring and tasteless. It was like they were boiled and put on the plate. No seasoning or sauce. I did enjoy the roasted beet salad. And the chocolate marquis dessert was very good.For the price I expected fancier sides

Fantastic dinner! We ordered the duck, the tenderloin, chicken breast and salmon. All cooked perfectly to our desired temps. The pork belly appetizer was delicious. Highly recommend when visiting snowshoe. A bit more expensive than I’d have liked, but we were splurging for Xmas.
