My son and I stopped for dinner after his high school baseball game was called due to weather. We were instructed to go up the ramp to be seated. A young man took us to a table where four other tables were occupied, and gave us our menus. He said that someone would be with us shortly. A waitress brought drinks to the table directly behind me, and a waiter closed out a table, and checked on another. After several minutes, the same waitress brought food to the table directly behind me, and the waiter cleared off one of the tables. At no time were we approached for a drink order or anything else. After 15 minutes of waiting we left the building. On our way out, the man working the checkout asked my son, who was in full baseball uniform, who he played. Personally, I think I would have noticed that the kid in the uniform was only here for a few minutes and that we left without paying for anything. As a businessperson, I would have asked if there was a reason we were leaving. Nine of that happened.

I will say that my previous experiences have been positive, and that the food is good. I was disappointed with the service on this day.

Sometimes things just aren't as expected. Columbos is pretty consistently a safe bet for good Italian food. But last night didn't live up to expectations. They were pretty slow for a Friday night around 7:30. There are other local restaurants with a wait at that time and Columbos wasn't close to half full. That is the time when a restaurant can really shine...if they care to.

The salads came out quick, but it doesn't take much time for two house salads. I had ordered an antipasto, however. The salads looked identical, but upon digging in, I did see some pepperoni and ham hidden under a layer of lettuce. Full slices of pepperoni and somewhat large cubes of ham lazily tossed into the mix were supposedly the catalysts that changed a house salad into an antipasto...for an additional $2.25.

The entrees come with garlic toast, and we ordered ours with melted cheese. The hot toast with melted cheese arrived with the cold salads, not with the entrees. I would have preferred it with the entrees. Four slices of garlic toast would have come with our entrees, but adding four slices of cheese cost an additional $4.95. Seems a little steep.

Not even halfway through our small salads, the entrees arrive. Again, when you are slow, know what you are doing, and care, you time the entree to arrive when the prior course...in this case, the salad... is about finished, not when it still mainly covers the plate.

The entrees, like the salads and cheese toast, were just okay. They all seemed to be thrown together quickly, with a lack of care or style. The slightly overpriced and underwhelming meal was indicative of a restaurant not even half full during peak hours heading into the weekend. $50.07 (I gave exactly 15%) was more than I have spent on dinner for my wife and I in a while. And unfortunately, it was one of the least enjoyable in that time as well.

Typically anything in red sauce is good. I don't care for the alfredo. Service just seems to be getting slower. The way the make the servers jump from dining room to dining room may be the issue. Antipasto salad is a good option for dine in or take out.

Awesome food. Great prices. Service so good good dear they were watching you on camera. Every time you finish something out thought you needed something... there was a server there to bring it to you. Cameras or mind reading. Either way... great service!
