We tried Swagat for a family get-together. Their restaurant is very nice on the inside, and the moss wall was a nice design touch. Now to the food. They actually spice their currys when you ask for it. We have tried several other Indian restaurants around town, and when we go for 4/5 spicy level, they usually end up mild, but Swagat actually delivers a pleasant level of heat and flavor. We really enjoyed the curry, lamb chop, and appetizer that we tried.

Let me start by saying the food was phenomenal but the price is for the ambiance and the plating. You can find other delicious Indian food for far cheaper in the Madison area. That being said, I’ll be back to Swagat without a doubt. We started with the samosas (I did not get a picture) which were full of flavor and they obviously know what a popular appetizer that is because it came out to our table within about 5 minutes from ordering it so they must constantly have some in the fryer to serve as they’re ordered right away.
We also got the garlic cheese naan and the spice masala naan. Not to say that the garlic cheese wasn’t good, but the spice masala was hands down a better choice. It will probably be my go-to naan order from here on out.
For entrees, we got the butter chicken with goat cheese and the goat curry. They have spice levels from 1-5 and being our first time at this restaurant I didn’t want to order spicier than I could handle so the butter chicken had a spice level of 3 and the goat curry had a spice level of 2. They are light handed with the spiciness so I will be going up to a 4 next time. We have no complaints about the flavor or portions at all, they were fantastic, filling with plenty of food to have taken home to have for left overs the next night. The only reason I would hesitate to come back here rather than another Indian restaurant in the madison area is the price. The butter chicken was $19 and the goat curry was $20. Again, there was plenty of food and incredibly delicious, so it was worth it without a doubt, however you can get delicious Indian food for far cheaper at other locations. Even with the price tag, I already plan to be back tomorrow with a friend for a dinner date.

I had the grilled pineapple, tamarind martini, saag paneer and garlic naan, 10/10 recommend. The staff there work very hard to make a good experience and the effort shines. They elevate Indian food and I loved the plating. Definitely would come back.

The back room with the group tables are a little echo-y and loud from hard concrete surfaces so if you're sensitive to sound I'd make sure to eat in the rooms closer to the front.

Wow!! This is elevated Indian food at its finest. Whereas the west side location has a family style atmosphere, the Sun Praire location is elegant and modern. The food is refined and simply beautiful. The tastes are complex and well executed!! Stop here!!!

Very underwhelming to say the least. The building decor looks great. The food is quite expensive for what you get. I felt that the food was slightly above average but not worth the price. The servers were great when taking our order. Once the food arrived they were nowhere to be found. I was never asked if I needed another beverage or if my water carafe needed a refill. After we were done with our meal we sat there with no one checking in on hs until the hostess came to check on us. Then the server came to check on us after the hostess told them to. Probably won't be back.
