Big Star Drive-In

I recently moved back to the Racine/Kenosha area. I had not been to Big Star or The Spot in 20+ years. There is a MASSIVE difference in the size and quality of the burgers between the two places. The Big Star burger (two thin patties the size of a standard bar coaster) does not even come close to the burgers at The Spot. When I picked up the double cheeseburger I knew something was amiss based on the lack of weight. Do yourself a favor and head to the south side.

There's no better drive-in burger place around, and anyone visiting the city during their open season should seriously consider pulling in for a bite.

The food here is extremely affordable, so it's easy to fill up in a single trip. I love coming with friends on good weather days and just relaxing in the car with the windows down.

It's definitely not the place to go if you're looking for something healthy or bizarre- it's got your basic burgers, fries, and chicken, with a few other options such as jalepeño poppers, steak sandwiches, and cheese sticks. But what they do, they do well.

Sometimes the wait is long when it's really busy, but my most recent trip was surprisingly zippy. I've waited over 20 minutes for food here before- but it's always worth it.

They have a window where you can walk up and order too, as well as a few tables to sit down outside. Credit card users, be warned: it's cash only here.

Absolute favorite in our household. A seasonal tradition! Amazing burgers, cheese fries, and the breaded mushrooms cant be beat. When it opens i am as happy and excited as Christmas day to a child. Season after season it does not disappoint!
