For a village of around 3500 people, this museum presented it's history beautifully. The featured exhibit was informative, educational, and really hit home. The permanent mining exhibit really well displayed.
This was a cheap and easy way to spend an hour or so. The staff was very kind and accommodating.

We loved the museum. We took a tour of the old Chinatown afterwards. We learned a lot and had fun doing it.

The rainforests and the vagaries of business cycles have covered much of the history of Cumberland and the nearby Coal Creek (Cumberland Chinatown). The Cumberland Museum & Archives brings this rich history back to life with vibrant and engaging exhibits that don't shy from telling uncomfortable truths. From the treatment of early Chinese settlers ("A Place At the Table") to mining conditions in the 1800s to early aboriginal engagement, the museum doesn't hold back. Yet despite all they endured, the happiness and pride of these vibrant and tenacious people shine through. This museum tells their stories beautifully.

Only one floor open, so a bit disappointed. Loved the old mine exhibit more but the new one has been fantastically done and we will go back again in 6 months and see how it looks with more exhibits.

The historical part is about the KMT branch of the Republic of China. But can learn some historical significance.
