I’ve had a few great experiences here, and recommend it to any friends wine touring Naramata. Great date place, with stunning views. I love Tapas, specifically the grilled Sardines hit all my high notes. The serving staff are professional, and really impart a personal touch and knowledge of the food they’re serving. I appreciate that the Chef has come out to check on our meals, I like this personalized touch. I do wish the wine selection extended beyond the winery, but this shouldn’t limit your expectations. By far, the best dining experience Naramata has to offer, and one of my overall favourites of the Okanagan.
🏴 Flag as inappropriateA really good experience at The Kitchen...if you like tapas - it's a style of dining that's not to everyone's taste. We love it ????
We arrived hungry after a day of touring wineries so we ordered a lot!
Started with a tasty hummus and baguette, followed with 2 seafood dishes, carried on to roasted cauliflower and duck leg confit, a pork belly on tomato and basil salad, fresh Saltspring Island mussels and clams, and meatballs with tomato chipotle sauce. Whew! But still room for dessert, lol - had the housemade cheesecake and the daily special which was an espresso creme brulee.
Everything was delicious - well balanced flavors, fresh ingredients - the only quibble I had was with the squid, it was finished with very coarse salt that I found overpowering. But I eat very little salt so it may be just a personal taste thing for me.
Recommended if you like tapas and enjoy taking your time over dinner.
Ps the dining area is a covered patio, but they have propane heaters that kept it cozy as the night got chilly
Food tasted great although I wouldn’t recommend going hungry. Prices are too high for the extremely small portions you get in comparison to other tapas restaurants I have dined at.
🏴 Flag as inappropriateGreat food. Prawns were delicious, and the butter beans with pork jowel were very good considering i do not like beans in anything.
Only complaint i would have is that the pacing of service was a little off. After our first course, we waited almost 20 minutes before the next 3 came at the same time, and the last before we had got halfway into those. If they were busy i could understand but we were 1 of 2 couples on the patio at the time.
Otherwise stellar views, tasty sangria, staff were friendly. We'll be back
I went here on a date and was impressed with the view and service and overall we had an enjoyable evening, but the food was rather underwhelming.
Between the two of us we ordered seven tapas and out of all of them, we would only return for he piri piri prawns and maybe the ahi tuna. The serving of prawns was very sizeable; for $9 we got five large favourable prawns. The tuna was slightly over-seared for our likings but the portion was again decent, and the fish was complimented by the guac. The food was unfortunately downhill from there. The cauliflower was bland and uneventful, the "pickled cactus medley" was just a pico de gallo with a few slices of cactus thrown in and the mint and beet salad was decent but lacked excitement.
If you want to have a few bites and drinks with a view, this place works, but for the value I would recommend going to Vanilla Pod or elsewhere in the area.
