Hogstone's Wood Oven

A real treat in Eastsound. The deceptively simple small plates (such as blistered tomatoes) are bursting with flavor. The wood-fired pizzas feature excellent cheeses. The outdoor picnic table vibe is very charming and relaxing.

Most of the reviews are spot on. Yes, this is a pretentious place but that shouldn’t surprise you when you show up if you did your research. We sat outside on Friday night at 8:30 and it was nice weather and I would say the food was better than good but not excellent. Plates are small but they tell you 4-5 bites so again don’t be surprised. It was the best pizza I’ve ever had to be honest as the crust was thin, sauce was great and cheese was just enough. Our server Spencer was attentive, knowledgeable and had some great wit. I will say the woman who checked us in was a bit rude. If you show up early, even one minute, (we came at 8:26 for our 8:30 and she asked us to take a walk a come back at 8:30...) you will have to wait till it’s exactly your time. Again if you read all the reviews though this shouldn’t surprise you. I’m giving it a 4/5 bc nothing was bad, everything was predictable based on the comments and the food was authentic and good.

I usually love small plates and sharing but the plates here were shockingly small and not filling, yet expensive. They were too small to even share. I couldn’t believe they were charging so much for two pieces of summer squash.

Stumbled upon this gem organically. Truly enjoyed the experience. Very creative and the flavors were on point!

Had dinner Sunday evening. It was fantastic. Food is inventive, fresh and very tasty. Service was also excellent. Our server knew the menu well and helped us with an excellent wine recommendation. Highly recommend.
