Pretty nice quiet spot for a good meal

Steaks were good. Fish & Chips...so-so. Ribs were good. Sticky Toffee Pudding a bit dry. Wonderful atmosphère. Service good.

Last Saturday night we held a surprise 50th anniversary dinner/party for my parents at Tall Ships Grille with 25 guests. As my siblings and I live in three different cities in two different countries, everything had to be organized remotely. The owner and I had many phone and e-mail conversations, from which an absolutely superb event transpired. He was extremely tolerant of my naive questions, and the result was a wine reception followed by a seated three course meal (with three entree options) about which every guest raved. Entrees were expertly prepared and delivered piping hot. Service was absolutely ideal - attentive but not intrusive. The Food and Beverage manager (Robert) stopped by regularly and was able to expertly modify timing of courses and some food requests on the fly. We used the private room upstairs which has a stunning view of the river and its own bar, and had two dedicated servers to attend to every need. I felt that pricing was extremely fair for the quality of the food and service that we received, and I will definitely be visiting this restaurant again the next time I am in town.
