“Lakeside Bala is a real treat in the Muskoka neighbourhood. It fits the bill of being a true restaurant as it does focus on the dining experience. The owners have been relentless in developing an atmosphere that my parents would love for a quiet dinner and so would I to take friends or family to enjoy a good meal with wine. It’s a perfect date night destination among other things. From the outside it is a little misleading. It looks a little like a box. As soon as you walk in, you are in an immaculate and intimate dining setting that "resets" you immediately. Proper table settings, nice cutlery, a full but careful menu of selections prepared by the chef. A modest wine selection, a great staff - and an earnest effort to provide a professional and attentive experience without losing a little of the "cottage" vibe. Prices are reasonable - noting that the candles, the kitchen, the table cloths, the aesthetic are all investments made by the owner that cost something. Portions are reasonable with a slight lean to the generous and the vegetables cooked with care that sometimes is overlooked by cooks who focus only on the central product. If you haven't stopped in, I recommend it. You can come by boat, drive or just walk around Bala after and enjoy a wonderful civilized reasonably priced night out at this restaurant on the water.”

“Ordered 2 hot dogs and 1 fries with gravy. Fries with gravy arrived quickly and were excellent. Hot dogs were not ready and took quite long to cook. When they were ready, server dropped 1 hot dog on the floor, It was replaced by a half cooked hot dog. Buns were cold. My hot dog was lukewarm. I did not see what happened to the hot dog that fell on the floor. While I was at the counter, the hot dog was left where it fell.”

“5 STARS to this place for excellent food and great customer service. Visited 1st September. The place is neat and clean with old school vibes. They have a pool table. The guy at the front desk was really polite and welcoming. We ordered wings, Chicken on the bun, Jalapeno poppers. The food tasted really good. The wait time for the food was not too long. Restrooms were ok-ok because at some point of time it's the visitor's courtesy too to keep the restrooms clean as visitors threw tissues here and there. I forgot to ask name of the guy working there at that time but he provided excellent customer service and was helpful in answering the questions about places to visit.”

“This place is a great stop to and from the cottage! It is open year round so you can have a snack and choose from a dozen flavors of hot chocolate, coffee and ice cream. I've often picked up one of their frozen meals to bring home for dinner. Now that their gift shop area has expanded; endless unique assortment of things to buy. Plan to stop by!”
