Please note that The 4 Stars is Only for the Food.
The Service is 000 Stars !
This Restaurant used to be called "Lai Doh" before, I have been coming here for Very Many Years, interestingly the Previous Owners, Husband and Wife who were very Pleasant and had Very Pleasant and Efficient Staff at the time, Sold this Restaurant, the Staff changed, however, interestingly, The Husband continued to work as their Cook, the New Owners that took over continued with the same Food Quality, however the Service became Terrible with their New Staff and once again, the Restaurant changed hands and was Sold again, New Owners and New Staff for the Third Time Around, now it is called,
"Food Kingdom" I don't know who is cooking now, but the Menu has changed and the New Staff lack Customer Service Skills, again I must say that the Food is Good and, I only go there for the Food and Not for The Terrible Service. I point at items on the Menu and they bring the Food, when I want something else, be it, cutlery, crockery or water or anything else, I have to get their attention with difficulty and try to find ways to Express myself coz believe me, they are like Robots ! I get Take Out most of the time to avoid the aggravation of dining in, but again I always point to what, I want like number this and number that etc on the Menu.
I will try to Post some pictures !
Food is pretty good!..... But man oh man... Service is absolute garbage!!!!! Terrible terrible service. These servers walk around looking like they hate life, have blank dead pan stares when they take your orders or tend to you, and it is almost like pulling teeth getting them to walk over and actually serve you. They stare at you for a good few seconds almost as if contemplating of they want to do their job or not and come by to tend to you.
Go for the food. But expect to be poorly served.
Awesome place to get Hong Kong style cafe food. Price is reasonable and you can pay 1 dollar to make a it combo (drink and soup).
I always order lunch special, which is around $8 before tax and is a combo. It includes a mug of soy milk/milk tea/lemon tea of your choice, a bowl of soup, and a main dish. The menu of lunch special changes daily and is handwritten on a blackboard standing outside of the door.
The food tastes great, and the portion ia big. Hainan chicken, 干炒牛河, taro fried rice (picture below) are all tasty.
The restaurant is not big. During busy time there could be lineup, but the wait time is 5 minutes maximum
