Wazema Ethiopian Restaurant

Great food - for Ethiopian food lovers (which is not difficult to love!).

I knew this was going to be an authentic experience the moment I walked in. On a Saturday night, the entire place was packed with locals, live music at the back of the room, and no empty spots up at the bar.

Menu is varied Ethiopian fare, and their chef executes it well. The vegetarian platter was flavorful, but the stand out is the meat. If you're comfortable eating kitfo raw, then you will not be disappointed here. Both the regular and dulet kitfos were fresh, flavorful, and packed with spice. A side is mitmita is provided without asking, so spicelords damn adjust the heat level accordingly.

Injera is fresh, bouncy, with a pleasing tang. You can always ask for more, but the amount provided seemed to be the perfect proportion.

I honestly believe this is one of the most hidden gems of Toronto.

Great food and very friendly service. The veggie delight platter and the Wazema platter are so good and allow you to try a variety of dishes off the menu. The Ethiopian coffee is fantastic at the end of a meal as well. Great place to go for a meal and somewhere I will definitely come back!
