Main Deli - Smoked Meat - Steak - Poutine

Did a side by side this afternoon of smoked meat sandwiches in Montreal. Honestly, the best Montreal smoked meat I’ve ever eatten. Better than the hype across the street.

The main is a montreal staple! Do yourself a favor and get an order of latkes, which are huge and super tasty. But don't miss out on the smoked meat, which is whole point of going.

The staff is also incredibly friendly! We always go between Thursday-Saturday and the waitress is our group favorite! She is sweet, friendly and just really makes the experience more fun.

This deli has been around for years and rich in history. There's has been change of management and owners throughout the years. There has been ups and downs in service and quality but it's a decent place to have a good meal. Their smoke meat is the best aside from their steaks. Personally, I don't like line-ups compared to its competitor across the street. I always get seated and have table service. One thing is this place need sprucing up and maintain it's service and quality. Otherwise it's a good place to enjoy a good meal.

Matzo ball soup was excellent. For the sandwhich, the meat was fattier than what I would have liked. Getting served felt like we were a bother to staff. The experience was OK at best.

I imagine, from the lines, that Schwartz's (across the street) is more famous. Maybe it is better, too. The smoked meat was good, but a bit fatty, and not as good as I had had elsewhere in Montreal. Overall, I prefer (perhaps parochially) the New York Jewish deli experience
