Good food but maybe a little bit too authentic
You can not get more authentic then this... I had bistec encebollado and it was delicious and the banana soda had me hooked... Definetly a hidden gem in Homewood... Staff is super friendly ... Food takes 15 to 20 min to arrive but is worth the wait ...
I just love these food
They recently renovated it and it's definitely a completely different place then it was the first time I went, on top of that, they also had a change in management. I had the "Pollo en Coco" it came with chicken, rice, beans, a salad and fried plantains. The chicken comes with bone and you get a decent portion, but I felt like a couple pieces had little to no chicken and more bone (If that makes sense). The sauce the chicken is covered in is made with coconut milk and it tastes so good paired with the fried plantains. my plate was $12, which isn't bad because it was plenty of food, but I was a little surprised that cheese dip was priced $8. The staff is really nice and the atmosphere is pretty chill, they have karaoke on Fridays and their drinks were pretty decent as well, I sure felt the first margarita. Last thing I will say is that they automatically charged the tip when it was only 2 of us and a baby eating. I'm not sure why but I heard they always do that, and I knew before going so you have to be okay with that if you go!
All in all, I really liked my food, so I'll be back!
The food was delicious, service was quick and some of the most authentic-tasting horchata my wife (who is from Honduras) and I have had state-side. Would DEFINITELY recommend!!
