“We went for lunch and the food was great! Our server Emily was very attentive. Food was made quickly and fresh. Was hesitant to try this place due to reviews about slow wait times and automatic gratuity. We were served efficiently and quickly with no gratuity automatically added to our bill. I felt like the menu prices were fair and reflected the quality of food I received. My suspicion is that they probably do add gratuity to large parties.. as do most restaurants. It’s nice to have this restaurant as an option in Roanoke and I would go again based on today’s experience.”

“Me and the family went for the first time today 5-27-21. We ordered sweet tea but the first batch was unsweetened. The staff realized this and quickly apologized and corrected the issue. We ordered the fried pickle spears and fried green tomatoes for appetizers and both were fresh and amazing. I ordered the fillet with onion rings and mac-n-cheese. Ordered tbe steak medium . My wife ordered the 2 grilled catfish fillets with squash and okra . My steak was perfect and delicious. The mac-n-cheese was nothing special but tasted good. The onion rings were crispy and flavorful and I enjoyed my meal fully. My wife however was disappointed in her fish. It was soft and really greasy. She enjoyed the okra but the squash again was saturated in grease . The service was great especially considering they were short staffed at the time . The price of the meal was slightly high for the area but worth it in my opinion. I am pleased with my first visit but my wife unfortunately was not .”

“Stopped in on a whim and we were very happy with the food and service at Jon Boy’s Smoke House. Had country fried steak and a large bbq sandwich and it was amazing. “Let me start off with they're biscuits are amazing, but with that being said I'll tell you my real opinion of the rest of the restaurant. There are by far more rude employees than there are nice ones. The chicken is a complete waste of your money because it is literally always dried out, and on average they get my order wrong about 63 percent of the time but it's still better than McDonald's. Literally the only thing really worth going here for is the biscuits, and it's sad that the few good employees get so little recognition because of the bad ones.”
