“I came here almost a year ago and couldn't believe the horrible, horrible service I received from the young man who was apparently the only person working. I walked up to the counter and he didn't even look up from his phone. When he finally did he looked at me like, why are you bothering me? I only needed something very basic like being rung up or something and he was so rude and argumentative,and aggressive, talking to me like a friend or worse, just like talking down to one of the people he saw in the hallway at school. It was very weird. Like I said, I needed very basic assistance, and I was being like, my normal self, I wasn't mad or anything, and he was aggressive to the point that I suspected he might become violent. I've never quite had an experience like that, and was kind of the beginning of seeing that customer service has died, and Gen Z is part of the reason why. I don't care if anyone finds that statement offensive, it's just what I believe. What kind of people take an actual person's name, and use it over and over to describe a person with "negative" characteristics, (simultaneously shaming them, judging them, condescending them for their feelings and opinions)? I think that's an incredible #$&?!@# shame. That should have NEVER been done, and it quite honestly sickens me. And who are YOU to decide what "negative" is, anyway? It's quite subjective. And I'm SHOCKED that you so vehemently view a person who expects good service as negative. 😂 I see over and over again how Gen Z treats people with disrespect, and are SO judgmental of people. And if that sounds judgmental (haha), it's supposed to be. Yes, I'm judging you for being judgmental. Turnabout is fair play. It's just so gross, and it's a pattern I see over and over again. This incessant judgment of everyone and everything, this laissez-faire attitude about their jobs, and disrespectful, rude treatment of people who are insignificant to them, bothering them, or are "in their way" to some degree. I recognize that they aren't all like this & and some of those people are even friends of mine. But it certainly seems like a (possibly overwhelming) majority. ;( I know this sounds like a bad review, but...recently I came here again and there were new people working who were actually quite nice. I inquired about ownership and management did, in fact, change recently. I'm really happy about that. I'm stunned that the previous managers were able to get away with hiring such incompetent, disrespectful, rude, and lazy people. I'm impressed when I see people who actually care about their jobs and actually TRY to help their patrons. That used to be a given and now it's like, absolutely earth-shattering and stunning when I come across it. So thank you for being kind and providing good service ! I was avoiding this place for awhile but I will be back again.”

“We love this place!! Decent prices great music and skating. You do have to pay extra $7 after you get your rentals for the pvc pipe guards for those who are just learning to skate. “This is a little Cafe in my neighborhood that I've probably driven past 100 times and never noticed it. We did a search to find something new nearby and found this. I'm glad we did! We sat outside and were provided menus and asked if we wanted drinks within 2 minutes of sitting down. Breakfast options were diverse enough for a small cafe. Coffee was smooth, hot, and flavorful. Food arrived in just the amount of time I would expect for something made to order. It was hot, plentiful, and delicious! I had eggs over easy which were perfect, bacon that was thick and just the right amount of crispness, and pancakes that were giant, fluffy and well prepared. They came with both enough butter and syrup that I didn't have to ask for more of either. I ate every morsel! The wait staff was attentive without being obtrusive and checked in without interrupting our conversation. I want to specifically acknowledge them because we watched as a single diner sat down a few tables over and kept talking on her phone via speaker, so everyone could hear both sides of her conversation. She was handed a menu and no more than 2 minutes later she was telling her phone companion that she was leaving because the service was 'terrible'...no one had taken her order yet. She packed up her stuff and walked off, never having ended her loud and disruptive phone conversation. A couple things bothered me about this: First, she shouldn't go into a sit down restaurant expecting fast food speed (Even fast food isn't that fast anymore). Second, good wait staff are trained not to interrupt a customer who is on their phone (Too bad customers aren't trained to not speak on their phone during a meal!). All she had to do was hang up and I'm sure, based on what I saw, that the wait staff would have been over to begin her dining experience quickly. If you are reading this review, please don't be an A$$ of a customer. Put your phone down and enjoy the experience of this wonderful little cafe with delicious food and very good service...”

“Quaint and oh so adorable!! We were in Glendale and I looked up "restaurants near me", so glad The Spicery popped up! My friend and I had never been there. We got there just after it opened. The hostess asked us if we had a reservation, and we said no, but they were able to seat us right away. We had a sweet waitress name Megan she was dressed up like what looked like a French maid. She was so nice and knowledgeable. She told us about the ice and hot teas, and the specials of the day. We tried two specialty Iced Teas. Then we ordered the quiche of the day specials. I had a vegetable Feta quiche and my friend had a chicken taco quiche. We both loved our entrees they each came with salads and the most delicious rolls! We told ourselves we weren't going to finish the rolls because we wanted to try their desserts. They brought out an amazing looking dessert tray and told us there were only two banana cream pie slices left. So, we ended up ordering a pineapple cake and a slice of banana cream pie. We split them and they were absolutely heavenly. The hostess came around and told us about upcoming specials and events at The Spicery. There are Mother's Day and Easter events. We cannot wait to tell our friends about this place and come back as a group! As we were leaving we noticed every table was filled, it was a packed house! We went out to our car and the street was full of cars too... we came at the right time! Next time we will make a reservation. We will be back!”
