This is my favorite Japanese/sushi restaurant in Oakland; I go all the time. Great lunch specials, amazing happy hour ($1 oysters), fresh fish & rolls, and clean restaurant. Love that it's one block from Broadway (Downtown Oakland and BART)! Amazing sushi, great staff. Middle of the range prices for top notch quality. Also, location is great because it's hard to find from the street but that means its never full and you'll always get a table. The place has a really modern and calming setting. The food surprisingly is prepared and made much more satisfying then what worth, will definitely bring friends here often. Hard to find this place so its a pretty sweet hole in the wall.

First of all, Sakura has relocated to San Ramon Valley Blvd, so it is brand new again. Very nice ambiance with nice furniture and two big screen TV for sports fans. My son was visiting from So. Cal. and we wanted to treat our entire family to sushi. We tried to enter from the street but the actual entrance is on the parking lot side. Seems as though every sushi restaurant is now owned by the Chinese. Not a sleight but a reality perhaps due to better management skills or ability to get fish at a lower price? Not sure and I do not wish to debate the matter. Anyhow, we ordered several rolls, soft shell crab, tempura, dragon and hamachi nigiri. The rolls were fresh and to my surprise stuffed with real snow crab. When I mentioned it to the owner, she stated that it costs $170 per pound. Well OK! It is no wonder why the prices are higher than what we are accustomed to. But that is okay because you have to pay for better quality. Probably not our go to place for sushi every week but certainly worth it for once a month.

At the first moment you come to this restaurant team give you a pleasant feeling. Very congenial waiters, it is a nice place to to go out with friends and colleagues or with your date. delightful meals, skillful chief cook and stuff, comfortable pay and courteous service. Highly recommended.

Cool hip hop place for great sushi and great price. They have daily happy hour specials that start at 5:00PM until 7:00PM, and the dollar oysters do sell out quickly. But, the rest on their happy hour menu (including some great cocktails for under $6.00) have some great food choices. Staff are very attentive and friendly here; in fact they treat everyone as their friends/VIPs.

Location is pretty safe in Oakland; pay the few extra bucks (this place will valet one hour parking for you) and pull your car into the parking structure.
