Driving along the Rugged Gold Coast of Oregon and California is a treat that everyone needs to experience. Sometimes stopping at a beach or park takes longer than expected, delaying a traveller’s schedule.
This is what happened to us and fortunately, in our case, we arrived at a place where Fisherman’s became our friend. They were one of very few restaurants open late , allowing us partake in local fare.
Our arrival at Fisherman’s was timely and fortunate as they were near closing. We were quickly and politely brought our menus and asked what we wanted to drink. Our drinks were brought out while we were choosing.
My wife opted for a beef dip and I chose the club sandwich. It didn’t take long before they came to us and that was a good thing as we were on the verge of “hangryness”.
The beef dip sandwich was below par. The bread was tasty but it had only one slice of beef in it and although the gravy was also good, the quantity or quality did not reflect the price. It came with a side of coleslaw which was nice. It was cold and sweet the perfect amount of crunch!
The triple-decker Club Sandwich on the other hand was as good as they come! All meats were flavourful and veggies extremely fresh! The tater tots were a treat. It’s been at least five years since I’d had tater tots and these were fried to perfection! A different and perfect addition to the sandwich.
The staff, especially our server was very friendly, helpful, polite and provided overall great service. We ended up being the last ones there and never felt rushed.
The restaurant was clean and bright and displayed local decor.
I’d like to go back and try their chowders and have another club.
They deserve a 5/5;
we were just a bit taken aback by prices (not being from this area).
Anyway - easy to find, great service (Erin), fast and friendly.
Local beer was a great price ($5) and we sampled 2 dark bitter stouts.
There was a special of the day, $26.99 for fresh halibut fish and chips. We got 2.
The fish was great; the fries were the best we'd had in years.
4 pieces of fish, some chips, a really nice dilly tartar sauce and a nice little coleslaw (too little; I love coleslaw but it was a standard little plastic cup size).
It was just like....$72 (before tip) for 2 people to have lunch was higher than we expected (being from Canada that's like $100).
But you know what?
It was great.
How many times are you in California?
Tip well and be happy with a fantastic food experience.
They have a little souvenir store, too.
Menu prices and selection are current as of Sept 2022
Delicious breakfast! We ate every bite.
Nice mural inside, pleasent seating area. Great service from Kelsey!
Salmon omelette was excellent, the oyster casino thing was very good, different. Hash browns and fruit sides, tea and coffee were all good also.
Large portions of fresh quality seafood. The clam chowder is delicious. Good flavors on veggies and coleslaw. Servers were attentive. Ocean decor and local photos along with cool paintings. Small gift shop area.
What a great place to stop and eat! Driving through the city I noticed a lot of cars here so I knew this was the place to eat. The service was super friendly and made ordering a breeze. The portion size are not small which really makes the price of anything u pick a no brainer. The fish and chips were extremely good and I would highly recommend!
