Love the menu. We had the salad with blackened red snapper (very spicy!) and the shrimp po boy (very fresh and tasty). The bread comes from a bakery in New Orleans and adds excellent flavor. The olive tapenade was delicious. Definitely worth ordering. I loved the flavor of the jambalaya but wish it was more spicy. We were told they dialed it back a little to cater to more people. If I find myself back in Crescent City, we will absolutely visit again.
This is hands down the best restaurant we've experienced in Crescent City! We tried the fritters, fries, Jambalaya and today's special (blackened scallops and grits) and the food was absolutely delicious! Well cooked, well seasoned, and would give any Jambalaya ive ever had in California or Louisiana a run for its money! We are seriously impressed woth the chef here. We can't wait to go back and try more dishes on the menu. Plus the staff was super nice, just a really grateful experience overall!!
What a surprise to find such great Cajun food in Crescent City. The Jambalaya has a nice spice, and the Fish and Chips were delicious with fantastic house made tartar sauce. You must get the Boudin Balls for an appetizer, so good we wanted to order another plate. They also have an ice cream counter so save room for dessert.
I had a wonderful visit at House of Jambalaya! Not only is their gluten free Jambalaya INCREDIBLE, they offer other gluten free options and the most delicious cider I’ve ever tasted (honey from Humboldt). The food is outstanding, the atmosphere is cozy, and during their busy dinner service the owner stopped to talk with me about how this restaurant was her and her husband’s dream. They opened a few days before COVID shut businesses down and I am so thankful they made it through because these kind folks are doing amazing things for their community. Support local business, pay them a visit! P.S. I got my order to go, so the picture does not quite represent the presentation.
We finely made our way to Schmidt's House of Jambalaya. Well worth the wait. Vibrant yet relaxing atmosphere. The service is excellent. The food came out hot and timely. I had the fish and chips. Maybe a little too greasy for me but still yummy. The fries were awesome. My guy had the jambalaya and said it was pretty darn good. As a local, I will look forward to the next time.
