Mothers Cooking Experience

I wish I had a photo to share with you, but sadly the food was gone as soon as it came. Trust us it was as beautiful as it was tasty. We got the fried chicken sandwich and the Cubano and both were delectable. I don’t think I’ve been more sad to take a last bite! What a perfect combination of flavors with the best customer service around! You can’t stop this mom and daughter from making your taste buds feel at home ❤️

We traveled to Arcata for my birthday and to visit with our daughter who is a student at Cal Poly Humboldt. We decided to visit Mothers Cooking Experience to have brunch but also to support a black owned business. Once inside, we looked over the menu and order our meals at the counter. We found a table and sipped on our mimosa, while we waited on our meals. I ordered the lemon ricotta pancakes with fried chicken. The chicken was tender, juicy and seasoned to perfection and the pancakes were just as scrumptious! My husband had one of the best sellers..fried chicken, black beans, toast, potatoes and eggs. Everything was finger licking good!! We will be going back on our next visit. Thank you Alba for making us feel at home.

Also, I normally don’t eat pork but I could not stop eating their Cubano. If you want a happy stomach and a smiling face definitely stop by here and grab some breakfast or lunch!

The chicken is an incredible savory fall of the bone piece of heaven
The rice is seasoned and cooked to perfection
The garlic bread has fresh garlic on it
And the slice of plantain is like a mild dessert for the end!

It’s more than just breakfast & coffee, it’s an experience! My avocado toast was a work of art complete w/edible flowers. The eggs on the croissant are mixed w/a dash of Turmeric.

My friend and I shared the friend chicken sandwich and the Cubano sandwich. The ingredients were fresh, well seasoned, and in good portions. The Cubano was loaded with pork and ham, cheese, and arugula with a delicious sauce. The friend chicken sandwich had a large piece of chicken and was so crunchy and well seasoned. I recommend getting it with the buffalo sauce-- STELLAR! Plus the cook was so friendly and welcoming! I will definitely be coming back!
