Service was delightful, vibe was good. Drinks tasted great. Only got fries to eat. Super happy so see vegan options for next time. ˙ᵕ˙
The Ritz is a fantastic addition to the Old Town dining scene.
According to the Lost Coast Outpost, the people who run it had Calico’s down in Garberville for many years. When they moved into the current space, they decided to use the location name of the The Ritz. But it’s the same family and same menu.
I mention this because they are basically three restaurants in one. There’s a Mexican menu, an Italian menu (complete with homemade pasta), and a burger/bar food menu. One might wonder how they could do such a wide range of things well. And the answer is that they’ve had a long time to perfect it.
And perfected it is. I’ve eaten here a few times now and it’s been excellent each time. The prices are very reasonable as well.
My only suggestion is that they make themselves better known. I walked past the location several times before I realized it was no longer vacant. Some balloons or a big banner outside the doors would help. And a website or FB page would go a long way toward bringing more people in. (The current FB page is for the previous version of The Ritz, not this one). I only say this because it’s such a great place, I want to see it succeed.
Ritz was great!! Tried it with coworkers and went back with friends, I really recommend their flautas and the mixed appetizer platter- they house make their tortillas & pasta in house too!!
If you go in with larger parties it's not easy for them to seat you together without being a little squished, and usually you have to ask for more silverware (each table gets set with 2 napkins with a fork each) but the staff are super kind about making accommodations!!
I can never tell if it's open because of how the doors are solid (no windows) but the inside is super inviting!! My friends say the music playing is too random but I don't have a problem with it.
Again, the workers are super nice. They have an entry with stairs, and one that is wide & wheelchair accessible, as well as the tables are wheelchair accessible (I'm not sure about the bathrooms).
Will definitely be going here again!!
A very nice restaurant and bar in the heart of downtown Eureka. The front room is an elegant bar area, which also includes some table seating for dining. The back room is the main dining room, which is nice but a little more utilitarian. There are three different menus - Mexican, Italian, and Burgers - each of which could stand on its own. While this may seem over-ambitious, they seem to be pulling it off so far. We stick with the Mexican, which was solid.
Just reopened. Too many menu items. Italian, Mexican, Burgers...should streamline the choices and focus on those. Will check back in a few months to see the progress.
