Food was tasty, but portion sizes on the lunches were a little smaller than expected. Order a dinner for a heartier meal. Will definitely return and try more menu items. Service was speedy and staff was pleasant.
I decided to come to this establishment because I saw it on TikTok, and it was my husband's birthday (9/11) first off the food was very flavorful, but the female that took our order Her attitude was horrible. My husband ordered jerk chicken tacos which she brought out shrimp jerk tacos. He didn't complain. He ate it, anyway. He also ordered the rice and gravy and he said that it was horrible. The rice was hard and the gravy was very salty. My food was good. I had the jerk shrimp. I also had yams and macaroni and cheese. I ordered a peach cobbler. I wish I was told that the peach cobbler does not come hot/warm. She just slammed a cold container on the counter and said here's your peach cobbler. Overall, our experience here was not good so I will not be coming back.... So on to the next black owned restaurant!
This new 🔥 spot is a must for soul food. My aunt and I stopped in because we smelled the delicious aroma of BBQ. I ordered the falling off the bone delicious Ox Tails/greens/ yams-yesyes, the perfectly fried pork cops/ rice gravy/ cabbage, the pork tips cooked to perfection you need no teeth to eat this meat! /mash potates/green beans and the shrimp plate seasoned well but shrimp were tough however, the sides were delicious some meals come with corn bread others with bread. Ask the cashier when ordering..
Be patient 🙏 the food is worth the wait.. only issue greens were cooked a little more than I prefer but they were still delicious. Stop in for a real treat in Culver City
First I'd like to start off by saying the food is good, not great but good. I ordered a combo with one fish filet, three whole chicken wings, man&cheese, mashed potatoes and red beans/rice. What I did not like is upon picking up my order there was only one little container of hot sauce (pictured), I asked for just one more and I was told it would cost $0.50 you know after just spending $27 on lunch I was not willing to pay extra especially considering I was requesting enough just to cover the meal. I don't fully understand charging for condiments but if you are please make sure you're providing enough for the meal purchased before erroneously charging for it. For this reason I will not be patronizing their business in the future.
I got the 3 fried wings meal with 2 sides for only $12 + tax! The wings are HUGE and melt in your mouth. So much food. And they’re still so good when reheated. I got the yams that were sweet and still a little chunky which I prefer over completely puréed. And the mac n cheese… I feel like whenever I order mac n cheese from restaurants I have high expectations only to be disappointed. But Bernie’s mac n cheese has SO MUCH cheese… every bite was creamy with that chewy/salty texture from the cheese. So gooooood. No lie, I can’t remember tasting a better mac n cheese in my life. Everyone needs to try it… be sure to get an extra side of mac n cheese!
