My wife and I are from the Denver area and were looking for a place close to where we were staying in Long Beach. I noticed the restaurant on the way to the hotel because of how it prominently sits on the intersection of several merging streets Although we were both starving (I add that note realizing that it can influence a rating based on hunger alone). I checked my phone to view the menu and the fare seemed like what we were in the mood for. We went for lunch but were a little early yet the staff waived what time it was and made us lunch. We both ordered the Black Bean Avocado Veggie Burger and they were absolutely delicious- best black bean burger I've ever had - I hereby recommend that option. Yes, my sweet wife agreed as she enjoyed hers as well- and she is much pickier than myself. Trust me.
After a while the owner came out to check on us and he and his staff were so friendly! We told him how wonderful the burgers were and the sweet potato fries were also delicious. He had mentioned that quality is what their entire philosophy is built on. Boy, let me tell you it shows. This place is a local favorite as we met a man who lives nearby and he said there wasn't a thing on the menu that wasn't good. It deserves 5 starts for cleanliness, friendliness, and quality of food- anyone rating this lower must be forgetting that the Crooked Duck is casual dining.
It was so good we went back for dinner.....
The Cooked Duck is a cozy little bar & restaurant. I was curious when I saw Monte Cristo on the menu. They do their own take on it & it was a nice variation on a traditional version. It's can get a little noisy with the crowd & the closeness. But we'll see...
Great spot. The owner (older white guy) was so nice. I appreciate wonderful service. This is my family’s new spot.
Love this eclectic place! The wall decor is water skiing history. We like it there on Thursday nights because it's Happy Hour from 5:00 PM right up until closing at 9:00 PM. They serve daily specials and offer quite an extensive array of food choices. Get there early in the evening, if you want the soup. They have run out of it on my visits there, most of the times.Great Food and Great Service!
Never disappointing. Great atmosphere, great staff, and really good food. Been back many times and this last time got the Trout Benedict Special and it was the best brunch I’ve ever had. And I’ve had brunch all over the world.
