The taste wasn't on par for the quality of ingredients and price vs cheaper dim sum places. Coworker finding a string on/in a dumpling didn't help.
One of our favorite spots on Sawtelle. Great food and fast service. There’s usually no wait. The atmosphere could use a little work as it’s a little sterile and they don’t serve alcohol but the food makes it worth it. We love their green beans, soup dumplings, and pork buns.
My go to Sunday spot. Had lots of Taiwanese food all over the world, they've managed to keep its authenticity amidst all the modern concrete/wood decor and clean plating. Its the right balance. They also hire experts that understands their food. Tip: Try their Loose Leaf Tea. Its strong but great palette cleanser post the saucy Mapo Tofu.
I first tried Roc in Playa Vista, it was their soft opening they were serving complimentary. This place is always overcrowded the food is traditional and you cannot get a mix of meat and vegetables you would order the veggies of one kind in each plate, and the dumplings on a separate order. I love their oxtail soup, it comes in a big ball that could be shared. I like eating there because it feels healthy a soup and a side of Green is awesome you can always order a side of beef or your favorite type of meat I like how it comes in small plates and it's all very well flavored and savory.
The food here is super tasty. You can tell everything is made fresh and with good ingredients. I make it a point to eat here every time I'm in the area.
