Good Soba and tempura , as well as Ramen.
The Soba has a nice flavour , but the texture wasn't as good as other Sobas I have tried.
However , I like this place and the ambiance and service was excellent.
Parking is tricky , but oh well , is Southern California
I will come back to this place
Had a great little dinner here. Everything felt like it was made with care and service matched that energy. Little place but it was full on a Monday and even though there was only one server she handled it very well. Food was amazing and felt like the kitchen cared about putting good food out to us and it showed. Not too bold of flavors but everything was still hearty and clean. We had the tempura, chicken karaage, pork bowl, and soba dipping noodles (the Tokyo?)
The soba noodle is slightly thicker than my wishes and it’s also not soft as my imagination. The broth is so good. Its smell of dried fish is the same as authentic Japanese broth I have ever had. But I hope it should be hotter than this.
For tempura plate, it’s quite good. I actually like medium-cooked shrimps tempura rather than well-cooked as at this restaurant.
However, in general, my meal is yummy.
Dine in (outdoor seating). We got the special tempura plate - light and crispy tempura, perfectly done - yuzu chicken soba - really good handmade soba noodles and complex tasty yuzu broth add an egg for extra goodness - and the Tokyo soba with egg and tofu - the tofu tasted fresh made and so delicious. Reminded me of soba I had when I lived in Japan. Very authentic. Would definitely return for more.
We ordered the Hot Tokyo with the Sukiyaki Beef, and the plain hot and cold Tokyo. The soba tasted refreshing, though I was expecting a little more “oomph”. Partly my fault as well, as I ordered the Tokyo which is essentially just soba and their signature soup. The prices were pretty high given the portion sizes, but otherwise an interesting first-time experience.
