Kazu nori is a simple yet delicious restaurant that serves handrolls made to order right in front of you. It has a casual setting and is a no tipping establishment. Went for dinner and ordered the Nozie set which was great. The whole meal was quick and delicious and easy to enjoy.
This branch is better than the other one in downtown in my opinion. The nigori sake is way overpriced though. Just order the hand rolls because nothing else is worth it. If you are looking for really great toasted seaweed this is the place. The seafood is fresh and well selected. Rice was always made well with high quality grains. But it's hard to get full. Very small portions.
If I were to eat week after week, it would hands down be KazuNori. I fell in love with KazuNori ever since I was introduced to it years ago and have been a fan ever since. Prior to my visit, my friend asked me to join him in their soft opening to select guests and my first response was HELL YES! We both came in the evening on a weekday and it wasn't too packed, even for their soft opening. Drinks were on the house so of course we both ordered some beers to go along with our course. Both opted for their six piece hand rolls and I subbed my scallops for an extra blue crab; one of my favorites!
What I noticed was different about the Ktown location was their seaweed. It didn't feel crispy at the first bite but instead felt a bit stale. When that first bite into the hand roll is nice a crispy, you know you'll enjoy it. Despite being stale, the meat instead still tasted amazing nonetheless. Since it was a soft opening and the meal was free, we didn't want to say anything and respect their hard work during the pandemic. I'd still come and enjoy some hand rolls but probably at the Downtown LA location instead .;;
I’ve been to two other kazunori locations, and each time had to wait almost 40 minutes. This one has no wait!! Which is amazing!! Also, they validate parking! What?! The quality of the rolls is just like the other locations, but with a much nicer, quieter ambience. Let’s keep this lowkey shall we? 😆
Got the Sea bream mix to go (Sea bream, toro, salmon, crab) and the salmon sashimi. They put it in really neat boxes with everything you need including a wet towel. It tastes fresh and really good. I am looking forward to trying the in store version of the hand rolls next time.
