Supertoro

This place is located inside a food court in the 3rd Street Promenade. I had stopped at the food court to get some lunch and there's many other restaurants available. The item that got my attention here was you can build your own bento box. The place was clean and there are several counters with stools where you can enjoy your food. The bento box comes with rice, sushi rolls, veggies or soup, and salad. There are different food items under each category that you can choose. I ordered the pork belly rice, california rolls, miso soup, and mixed green salad.

The food did take a while to be ready, but you can see the cook preparing it. He did take time to prepare it to make it just right. The taste and quantity were worth it. The miso soup was hot and the mixed green salad had light dressing on it. The pork belly rice wasn't salty and the California rolls tasted fresh not mushy. I was impressed by the concept of this restaurant and I wish there were more locations available.

This review is primarily focused around Amy, who was incredible. Some of the best customer service I have experience in Santa Monica. Not only was she a smiling face, but she went above and beyond to make sure that my experience was top notch. If management actually reads these, go give her a high five and say thank you again from Wayne. She deserves it.

Now, on top of that, the Spicy Tuna Rice Cake blew me away. I have had this dish before. Many times. It's spicy tuna on a rice cake... BUT! This was the best spicy tuna on a rice cake I have ever had. The fresh rice cake was incredible. I was half expected a hard to bite into deep fried platform for my tuna, but the rice cake ended up holding its own. Perfectly crispy and flavored just right. The tuna itself was next level too.

I will be bringing myself and my team back here often!

Ultimate favorite is the Kalbi and Pork Belly Bun with Supertoro. And soooo good but found the Pork meat a little on the dry side but still melts in your mouth and love the pickled Veg on top. Good food + good company = good day. Best time to come so its not full or too busy is between lunch and dinner or after dinner rush ;)

I very much love the dishes and customer service, excellent location right next to my home. The staff members are always very welcoming. Highly recommended.
