Dametra Cafe

Tasty, fresh, well prepared food. Second best lamb (after Iceland) we've ever had. Great entertainment and very welcoming atmosphere. It was a little loud (in a good friendly atmosphere way) but if you have difficulty heating with lots background noise it may not be for you.

An unplanned visit to Carmel and a serendipitous stop at the Dametra Cafe turned into one of the most memorable afternoons ever. The wait staff was attentive and the owner stopped by all the tables to greet everyone. That was only the beginning. Our meal was delicious and as we finished a young man playing a mandolin (?) introduced 2 members of the kitchen staff. One gentleman sang a wonderful Mexican song with mandolin and bongos to accompany. Everyone joined in to sing along! Perhaps we were just lucky but I suspect this little gem really cares about good food and spontaneous fun.

This place is absolutely amazing. I have not had a lamb shank this good in well over a decade and that was my grandmother's. Service is impeccable, decor is beautiful and compact in a good way. All four of us at dinner loved our food. I wish I lived here to come often. I wish there was a 6 star rating... if you are in the area, eat here!

What a unexpected surprise! Not only was the food fantastic, but the atmosphere is so welcoming!

I may be late to the party but people were here to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries and I can understand why. The atmosphere was one of celebration and enjoyment.

As I said, the food was delicious and the wine pours were beyond the stinginess you typically receive at restaurants.

I will definitely be returning! And you should visit! I only can only give so much praise, but try for yourself.

We chose to have lunch here after hearing great reviews, and we were not disappointed. The chicken and gyros were seasoned and cooked perfectly. We also had the grape leaves which were the best we have ever had. Friendly staff and owners too -- you won't regret eating here!
