BEST BISCUITS AND GRAVY EVER!!! What else can I say? After an underwhelming breakfast the day before at First Awakenings in Monterey, we searched for a place that would serve breakfast but have a unique twist to it. The biscuit and gravy was made of freshly made cheese biscuits (I think they were toasted with butter ????) with a delicious sausage patty in it and covered with a delicious and unique tasting gravy that made the first bite amazing. I enjoyed it until my last bite! Wife enjoyed her eggs Florentine and side of pancakes and biscuit.
Hard to find! Just park and walk in towards the center of the courtyard then walk down the stairs. You'll need glad you made the effort.
Not until we got our menus did we realize this spot was on DDD. I see e why.
My eggs Benedict were great. My kids had the cinnamon roll pancakes and corned beef hash. Pancakes were great and there were big chunks of corned beef in the hash.
Service was great! Take the time to find it you'll be glad you did.
I would rate this restaurant 3.5 stars. The ingredients are obviously fresh (farm to table) being in Carmel by the Sea. The best dish we ordered was the cinnamon roll pancake- OMG! It does not need butter or syrup; perfect just the way it is. I ate the pancake before eating my corned beef hash. My hash had cubes of beef, not what I am used to when ordering hash, but still good (just too much meat for me). My sister liked her biscuits and gravy (the triple D sampler). It's April and we sat outside- it was cold, therefore my food got cold fast. I recommend eating inside. The service is fantastic!
If you eat here and have anything negative to say about the food, you're lying for attention. This is hands down the best breakfast place in California. Could possibly be the best in America. From Scratch will always have my heart.
Went there in the late morning on a Tuesday. No wait. Service was decent. Cinnamon French toast was fantastic. Corned beef hash was tender chunks of corned beef and very good. It could have used a little more seasoning. Overall a pleasant experience
