Can't recommend this enough. Did the legacy day tour and was the most memorable experience of Napa valley. Great tours of the Wineries and an amazing service from the train staff. A must if this is your first visit to Napa.
My entire experience with the Napa Valley Wine Train was fabulous! Everyone that I encountered was friendly and professional. Everything from the bus we took to the vineyard, to the vineyard tour, to the food on the train was excellent. I especially want to acknowledge our Wine Educator, Tasha, who met us at the train station and accompanied my group of 3 on our tour at the Raymond Vineyard. She was personable, engaging, had a great sense of humor, and exhibited lots of knowledge about the area. Our tour guide at the Raymond Vineyard, Maha, was also great. Like Tasha, she was also very knowledgeable, professional, and pleasant. After our vineyard tour, we had lunch on the wine train. The ambiance was beautiful and the food was absolutely delicious! I had the soup of the day (potato and leek), the entree that included salmon and lobster tail, and the lemon pound cake for dessert. While everything was scrumptious, that soup was the best potato and leek soup I have ever had! The only (very small) criticism I have is that it would be nice if a beverage other than water and hot tea or coffee were offered as part of the meal on the train. You can certainly buy other drinks, but they cost extra in addition to what you've already paid.
I highly recommend the Napa Valley Wine Train and the package that includes the tour of the Raymond Vineyard!
Fun wine experience. Elegant train. Great dinner. Good drinks. Awesome ambiance. I think it would be perfect around sunset. So, best time would be around dinner in spring time.
Trade in the traffic and city noise of San Francisco with the Napa Valley Wine Train experience. It blew me away! The food, the ambiance, the views, the wine - it was all simply an amazing, intimate experience shared with close friends. Major kudos to the executive chef who brought together the most delectable flavors paired perfectly with each wine. I highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting wine country. It really was the highlight of our trip.
This train trip was nearly as good as the Orient Express, only much shorter! I know because I have traveled on both-several times. Salmon in bean "soup" lunch was outstanding! Trip very scenic once we got out of downtown Napa. I would eat at the first seating on the left side if possible-best viewing in the daytime run. Although the really best views are in the dome-dining car with glass all around. Check out the kitchen car and ride the open air cars too. Wines suggested were really spot-on! Order the French bottled water for your table. It's much better than Napa tap water. Then have the sweet and coffee on the way back to town on board the parlor-observation car. These cars are actually older than the Orient Express and beautifully appointed. Next time try this train--FUN!
