We have eaten lunch several times at this now famous restaurant and can now simply conclude "not your average taco." Taco Maria is far more famous for its dinner menu than lunch but we use it for a lunch stop because when we are shopping in the Mix or the surrounding shops this makes an almost perfect ending to our morning. The small lunch menu is nonetheless delicious and an excellent introduction to the Modern Mexican Cuisine that is the most exciting culinary trend in SoCal at the moment. Highly recommended.
Landed at John Wayne Airport hungry and looking for something nearby. Thought this would be a typical strip center spot but instead found the wonderful upscale Mexican menu in a specialty mall. Bit of a wait at lunch but well worth it. Use the time waiting to browse the charcuterie the wine shop the specialty oil store or the clothing places.
Jonathan Gold picked this as the most important restaurant in Orange County. What more can I add? always true to its Mexican taco truck roots. Always stunning. always fantastic. My go-to place in Orange County when I want to impress a visitor with the food!
This is what you dream of when you think "artisan Mexican Food". Wait, you don't normally think of that? You should! And after eating here, with the bursting flavors and hand made blue corn tortillas, you will wonder why you haven't thought about "artisan Mexican Food" before! Enjoy Amigos!
An impromptu lunch today with my sweetie and the restaurant did not disappoint. Highly recommend the Cesar salad, very fresh and delicious. You can mix and match the tacos and between us, we covered the non vegetarian ones. All delicious. Tangy blood orange on the pork belly is a nice touch. Also sitting at the chefs counter is a treat catching all the actions.
