Spud Shack

This is a fun place that offers good fast food but staff were not accommodating.

average fries. thought I was going into a cool, multicultural fry experience, boy was I wrong. made-up combinations of fries from different places, ironically very American. if you just want some fries and are nearby, sure, stop and grab ‘em, but don’t expect anything special. they’re fries. the logo and name, however, really caught my attention. that’s the appeal, and it bumped up the rating a whole star.

Located in Old Town Sacramento just steps from the California State Railroad Museum, the Spud Shack offers a wide variety of themed fries with some wonderfully creative toppings. The Italian style with garlic and Parmesan were great. The remainder of the menu is limited to munchies like hot dogs, chicken nuggets, and desserts like funnel cakes. Not the healthiest, but fun for an occasional treat. Outdoor tables on the adjacent elevated sidewalk were in the shade and quite a pleasant spot to have an impromptu picnic.

I've lived in Sacramento my whole life and sadly I have only just discovered this place about a year or two ago. They have the best fries I have ever had in all of Sacramento. The employees are very friendly and make sure you are satisfied with your order. They do tend to get crowded but that's just because they're so great. Hands down recommend trying this place out and seeing for yourself just how amazing they are.

This place is great. Reminds me of fair food. We got the bacon wrapped hotdogs and the Ireland fries. Amazing place that is worth the visit.
