“Everyone at this fantastic ice cream shop went waaaaay above and beyond for my friend's birthday. Despite confusion with their hours on Seamless/Grubhub/door dash -- they came through and stayed with me while I was on the phone with them. Shout out to Juliana for the cheesecake and candles. What a beautiful touch. My friend was ECSTATIC by the absolute thoughtfulness with this delivery. His thoughts: The cheesecake was like eating a cloud or something it was soooooo good ✨💗 And the float was so good! that ice cream 👌👌 So excellent staff, delivery and exceptional treats Thanks for making this happen! I appreciate everyone involved in uplifting my friend for his bday! Side note: All this was done from NYC so I can't express how impressed I am with this place. Thank you!!”

Cocina de Barrio - Encinitas

Address: 967 S Coast Hwy 101 #101, Encinitas, CA 92024, USA

Restaurant

“HAPPY HOUR REVIEW We made reservations for 3pm on Black Friday. Family is in town and we wanted to try something hot and new that still had positive reviews. I had been keeping my eye on Cocina de Barrio and the new Mas Fuego in Carlsbad. Mas Fuego turned out to be a dumpster fire, but Cocina seemed to be having a strong start. We got seated at a booth which was very comfortable. Note: as far as I could see, all of the indoor tables and booths had padded seating. This is a big deal to me and I always call it out if a place refuses to make their guest's comfort a priority. I did not check the patio seating but so far Cocina is five stars. We basically ordered most everything on the happy hour menu: * Tacos de Birria (lamb) * Tacos de Camaron (shrimp) * Tacos de Trompo (al pastor) * Tacos de Pescado (salmon) * Mango Habanero Aguachile * Ceviche * Guacamole * Oysters (12) * Margarita (2 Blancos, 1 Rosa, 1 Agua Santa, 1 Jalisco Express) THE GOOD The drinks were good. The best was the La Rosa by far. Imagine if a sangria and a margarita had a baby. The second best: Jalisco Express, which had a little kick to it but was delicious. The other drinks were either too sweet or had too much sour mix. Not great. The table-side guacamole was nice. We gobbled it up though they only give you a few "chips" (hard blue corn tortillas) with it, which was odd. The other plates we ordered came with chips as well so in all, we had plenty - but if you're just getting the guac you might want to ask for more. You also have the options of adding "chapulines". If you don't know what this is, look it up first :-) The tacos were good, though the tortillas were cold. The birria was not seasoned. I thought the shrimp tacos were the best. They put little dabs of sauce on the plate (some white, green or orange). You can add these to your taco if you choose, but the best topping might just be a little salt. Presentation is outstanding I must say. The oysters were good too, although quite small. Normally they come served on a bed of ice at most place. All twelve were placed on a small plate with salt and Tabasco and limes on the side. They looked really nice though the microgreens didn't add much flavor-wise. Service was good, though we did have trouble hailing our server to get more drinks. We always had someone pouring water, or taking dishes away. THE BAD The Aguachile is hands-down the worst version we have EVER tried. Wow. Do not get this. It was sickeningly sweet with zero heat. This is not authentic aguachile. I really should have returned this as it was inedible. The Ceviche was also just weird. This wasn't as bad as the aguachile but this was also the worst ceviche I've ever had. The green sauce made it hard to identify what was what. It was overly thick with a weird consistency. These two dishes pulled the entire experience down. I'm curious to see what others think but this was eye-openingly bad to us. My mom was with us and she had never tried aguachile before and for this to be her first time was a let down. The temperature of the plates needs to be improved also. Our plates and tortillas were cold which really detracts from the flavor even though the presentation was beautiful. They do not serve chips & salsa - which I think is a bummer. I think most people expect it. Plus, the salsa could add more heat to the other entrees as they come out. They do put a small dish of Chile de Arbol on the table, but it is not "salsa" in the traditional sense. Our total after tip was about $200 after tip, which was not bad considering the sheer amount of food we had. I still think their happy hour is a good deal overall. Just get the La Rosa, the Jalisco Express, the shrimp tacos and the guac and you'll be one happy camper.”

Mrkt Space

Address: 782 N Coast Hwy 101, Encinitas, CA 92024, USA

Restaurant Cafe

“I used to love this spot, I’d take my clients here and work from here about 3 times a week. I also used to do happy hour business idea nights with gfs here too. Unfortunately, that’s changed as they got rid of their WiFi and also don’t have working outlets. Since that move happened a lot of people in the community stopped coming here. I get wanting more dine in guests but most of your guests in Encinitas are work from home people or entrepreneurs who used to love to work from here and didn’t mind supporting your business to be able to work from here. Now whenever I walk by this place ( which is almost everyday) its completely empty - used to be a super fun hub. Take your business to lofty or queenstage - better food and they don’t mind you using their WiFi either.”

Best CAESAR DRESSING EVER!”

The Craftsman Tavern

Address: 267 N El Camino Real, Encinitas, CA 92024, USA

Restaurant

“The Craftsman Tavern is a must visit. Unique and delicious cuisine, an extensive beverage menu and always a lively atmosphere. Due to their popularity we had to wait for a bit for initial service but when Brittany finally got to us (she had multiple tables sat at the same time), we had excellent and attentive service lacking for nothing. My only complaint was my salmon looked delicious but sadly overcooked so pretty dry. On the other hand, the skirt steak was delicious and was a huge portion. Cooked perfectly. Next time I will opt for that instead. Oh, and if you do go - must try the "crack addicting" truffle popcorn!”

By far, the freshest and best quality fish I've had in Poke. I will be returning often for that reason alone. Tried the salmon and spicy tuna. Was delicious and not a single bad piece.”

The Cottage Encinitas

Address: 127 N El Camino Real Suite H, Encinitas, CA 92024, USA

Restaurant

“My wife had been to the La Jolla location and always raves about it. This was so cool that we were simply out and stumbled across this location. Here is my quick review: Food: 5/5 We had to try the famous stuffed French Toast and it did not disappoint! So good on so many levels. Fresh strawberries sandwiches between soft fluffy custard French toast. With marscapone cheese and soft rich butter. It does not get much better than this. Comes with hot syrup but to be honest you don’t need it. (View pictures to see what this decadent dish looks like.) Ambiance: 5/5 Very busy but still has that small cottage feel. There is plenty of seating and the decor is very modern but does not lose the feel of what you would expect for a small cafe/restaurant like this one. Service: 5/5 We were seated super fast, drinks were constantly refilled, and napkins and any extras were brought immediately. Overall can’t complain. Overall: 5/5 Great food, service, and a nice small home feel really takes this spot to the next level. If you are wanting a extremely great little place to try near the coast for brunch or to get simply great food give this place a try. You won’t regret it.”

Restaurant Night club

“They just opened up to locals (not hotel guests) by reservation only and must provide credit card. It’s $25 per person cancellation fee if you don’t show or cancel within 24 hours. This is to keep the exclusivity feel consistent they said when I checked in at the lobby. They will give you wristbands and escort you to the restaurant where you have many options for dining inside or outdoor by the fire pits. We chose the fire pit seating. It’s open air with a few umbrellas on cushioned seating with tons of pillows. Concrete fire pits are large enough to have beverages and food. There are small stools to use that out you closer for eating. They have a few large bottles of sunscreen at various stations as fyi. They had sound healing just outside the pool area at 5:30pm on Wednesdays. The Apres-Sea aka happy hour menu had a few bites on it. We got the carne asada nachos and it was a huge stack, lots to share. Excellent deal. My friend tried the pork banh mi and loved it. He also ordered the ponto passion drink and enjoyed it as well. I got the blackberry cider and it was tasty and refreshing. Patrick was our server and he was amazing!!! Definitely ask for him if he’s working!!! Loved the ambiance. The dinner menu offerings looked delish and excited to come back for more explorations. They brought a new menu (changed menu tnite) so you will see differences in photos.”

Hamburger Hut

Address: 576 N Coast Hwy 101, Encinitas, CA 92024, USA

Restaurant

“Love the burgers. Been here quite a few times now and it’s consistently great. I love the atmosphere and the music is on point! The staff is incredibly friendly, especially considering they are most likely working with less people than intended with staffing shortages around town. Single burger…nice snack Double…perfect for me Triple…don’t be scared Fries…always cooked and seasoned perfectly. Never finished an order, portion size is great for sharing. Salad…crisp, fresh, delicious. It’s an added bonus to just chill, people watch, catch up with friends…while sipping on a cold local beer. I recommend a million times over.”

Piña

Address: 345 S Coast Hwy 101, Encinitas, CA 92024, USA

Restaurant

“I had been here once for drinks and we enjoyed their margaritas. The second time, we came for dinner. The margaritas were still good, however unlike many reviewers here, all four of us found the food to be remarkably plain and bland compared to the Mexican fare we often enjoy: I had to add salt and a decent quantity of hot sauce to give my dish some flavor. It’s really a shame, as the place is nice and the staff is friendly. Hope they figure out a way to step up their game with the food.”
