Love Gihon! Their last Friday vegan potluck is a great way to get a full feel of Ethiopian food in one meal. The owner is very kind.

The moment you enter the restaurant you are welcomed.Small space but very cozy and clean including the restroom.Is very comfortable atmosphere, with friendly staff and beautiful designs outside the patio. The food was dynamite, my friend and I enjoyed it. Is a must go place if your in San Diego. I wish they served alcohol, that was the only thing they didn't have. Best Ethiopian food in San Diego. I have tried them all and I can confidently say Gihon takes the cake. Service is friendly, they take the time to talk to you and genuinely care about your experience. A lot of the menus at Ethiopian places are cluttered and have a million items when in reality they only have half of the menu available. The menu here is easy to navigate and well laid out. The important part: the food, is just great! The best thing to order at Ethiopian places are combination plates where you can get some veggies and meat in the mix. We ordered the vegan platter and meat sampler, which was more than enough for two people. The flavors in the veggie and meat items were well flavored and every last item had their own distinct flavor profile. The prices matched the portions, the presentation was awesome, and the restaurant itself is really inviting and cozy. The perfect place for those looking to try Ethiopian for the first time or Ethiopian food aficionados.

This place really doesn't get the credit or foot traffic it deserves. Such a delicious menu (with great veggie options) and wonderful customer service. I have ordered from here multiple times (mostly carry out) and my order has always been complete, ready, and warm by the time I pick it up. Out of all the Ethiopian places in SD, its delicious food and timey service have definitely made it my favorite.

So glad these guys are back! Just got back into town, so perfect timing! They’ve just opened up and the owner says they are still working on the decor, but it’s the food that’s super tasty and worth the trip. Always a friendly smile from the family that owns and works this restaurant. Super chill environment. Great place for authentic Ethiopian CUISINE.
