The pork rice plate was delicious! I'd definitely come back here again the next time I visit San Diego.
Great Hawaiian food at a good price. I got the volcano and my wife got a two-meat plate with kalua pork and teriyaki chicken, both were delicious. The mac salad was spot on. Not a ton of seating but we were able to find a table without too much trouble.
I’m from Hawaii so I was VERY EXCITED to be living a few blocks away from this place. It’s a great cross between traditional Hawaiian food and the local fare you’d find at the various plate lunch shops when you visit the islands. The decor is a little bit “cheesy luau” for my taste but what it lacks in appearances it makes up for in taste.
I had the Kalua pig, which traditionally is a whole pig smoked in an underground oven and then shredded and served mixed with cabbage. Here it came without cabbage (fine by me, I prefer the Kalua pig without it anyway) and tasted a bit more like barbecue pulled pork without any barbecue sauce. Tasted great, is it truly authentic? I’d give it a 90%.
I’m definitely coming back here to try everything else.
Food was on point. I had the BBQ bowl and my old lady had the lava bowl. We came out of our way to try this place so we were really hoping they were good. (The wife doesn't like the Hawaiian spot by our house. Lol) But yea, this spot is smooth. My wife wasn't feeling the mac salad but it might have just been a bad batch. But we will definitely eat here again.
I recently had the best catering experience. I have had their food and I knew it would be excellent. But their catering associate Alexis was awesome. She worked with me to make sure that we could have the perfect party. I would have included a picture but the food was gone before I could that. So thank you for everything!
