Dumpling Inn & Shanghai Saloon

Had take out at this unique dumpling place in San Diego. We tried the Xiaolongbao aka soup dumplings. They were really one of a kind. That during dough followed up by the warm salty broth is a must. You won't be disappointed with checking this place out.

Idk how this place is so highly rated. It’s not bad but certainly not something I’d go out of my way for. I’ve had a lot of soup dumplings in my day and can say these don’t even make my top five. Rest of menu was okay not terribly impressed.

We walked in and it was really busy but we didn't have to wait as we chose to sit at the bar where they still serve the full menu. The bartender was really friendly and was familiar with the whole menu and helped us out with our drinks and food order. We got a couple of different dumplings and some noodles and the food came pretty fast. Everything was delicious and priced very well - this was the second time I've been here and I'm overall super satisfied and would go again.

Note: They don't do reservations and so when you get there you need to put your name down with how many are in your party and they will seat you based on availability.

My group of six came here on a Friday at 1pm. It was very busy and the noise level was nothing short of deafening. I could barely hear the person across the short table from me speaking. Things quieted down as people left, but that was definitely something pertinent I noticed. Our food came surprisingly quick. The servers were courteous and attentive. The food selection was broad but make sure to get the dinner-sized portions if you plan on sharing with a larger group.
