Enoteca Buona Forchetta

VEGANS: I went here as it was reopening from the covid closure so it had a limited menu. It was AMAZING. They have a vegan section for each type of menu item. I got the vegan mushroom penne and the sauce was light and flavorful and they weren’t stingy with the mushrooms and fresh herbs. It was almost better the next day with a little nutritional yeast (you know what I’m sayin vegans??) as the olive oil had separated out a bit so to kind of blend it back together. The fresh bread was super good too.

How do you make the best sandwich in San Diego? Put quality meats, cheese, and veggies on Buona Forchetta pizza dough as bread. Life. Made. Plus a warm, charming environment that feels like a little market in Italy

FANTASTICO ! My wife and I headed down to South Park on ( a mission ) Saturday to have lunch here. We had heard that this cute cafe had opened next door to Buona Forchetta....which was our first fabulous dining experience with owner Matteo Cattaneo's wonderful Italian restaurants around San Diego. After some difficulty finding a parking spot...( they oughta rename it South No Park ) we walked a few hundred yards to this cafe. Very welcoming vibe when we walked in and then a lady sitting at the counter in front of a laptop computer looked in utter surprise at me. Ha ha it was Courtney Romagnoli ( the online media guru for all Buona Forchetta restaurants ) who recognized my Aussie accent and gave me a big welcome. We have been mates on Instagram for ages. A lovely young lady named Vanessa behind the counter asked us what we would like. First up it would be 2 x Cortados ( mini lattes ) which Vanessa made for us herself. The gourmet sandwich menu looked astounding but in the end we chose the Italiano to share. Very cute cafe with just enough seating at tables and the counter inside...our sort of place ! Our huge Italiano Sandwich on 2 plates arrived in front of us in a very short time. I thought you have to be kiddin'....this gigantic delicious looking pizza crust wrapped gourmet sandwich in front of me is just half of a sandwich. They don't have prices displayed on the menu board so I said to Vanessa.....hey this has gotta be a 15 buck sandwich ? It is $10 Michael came the reply. I nearly fell off my barstool. Let me tell you that in the annals of my sandwich eating history this would be in the top 2 of the best most flavorsome sandwiches I have ever enjoyed. Our rich creamy Cortados tasted fabulous and I ate every single morsel of my amazing Italiano half sandwich. So they serve good wine and craft beer here too and even have happy hour. Wow why don't we have a great joint like this close to home ? Such is life !

Super chill place to just sit and have a drink, although their sandwiches are pretty good, too, so if you come on an empty stomach, you're covered. The South Park is my personal favorite.
Staff is always incredibly friendly and attentive.
The place is kinda small, so you might not find enough seats if you come in a group when its busy.

Amazing sibling to Buona Forchetta. Very relaxed atmosphere, great staff, good wine list, and the food is absolutely delicious. The 'small' meat and cheese board is huge and the paninis are substantial enough to split if your not too hungry.
