This place was beautiful, fantastic food. Cocktails were just ok. Came to celebrate my birthday with my mom. Our server Meranda was amazing! She made everything right.
Our appetizers were really good! The arugula salad and carpaccio were delicious. Personally I wouldn't serve that amount of horseradish with the carpaccio as it was very overwhelming in addition to the chilies. But my mom enjoyed the horseradish.
Our pasta dishes were delightful, I had the lamb ragu and my mom the duck! Dessert was definitely a highlight. Very unique yet delicious!
I do have to say though that the music is waaaay too loud, takes away from the beautiful atmosphere. Tried changing tables in hopes that the music was lower inside. So due to this I will probably never go back. It's just not enjoyable. Can't have a conversation, have to yell to even be heard. Honestly it's quite ridiculous. If I wanted that kind of atmosphere we would have gone to a club or bar.
Also please have your baristas pay attention when they heat up milk, the milk was boiled and changes the flavor which made it unenjoyable. And the lemoncello was not tasty at all, too fragrant like perfume and chemical tasting ,and I've enjoyed many across this country and world. Do yourself a favor and don't order it.
Decided to try this place for a date night. We showed up early without a reservation and put our name on the list, were quoted about 60 minutes for a bar seat (with full service). We were pleasantly surprised to be seated at a table 15 minutes later!
The waiter was very knowledgable on the menu and wine selection, and let us try a few wines before settling on a glass. We ordered the Focaccia and Squash Blossoms for an appetizer. The Focaccia came fresh out of the oven, and the Blossoms followed shortly after. The Blossom were stuffed with an eggplant mixture instead of the usual goat cheese, which was a nice change and were absolutely delicious.
We ordered the Spaghettoni and Pappardelle; the pasta was definitely freshly made and not dried out of a box. I would say the Pappardelle was better than the Spaghettoni, but neither dish was short on flavor and really depends on your taste preference. I appreciate the amount of sauce on the Spaghettoni and the amount of Duck in the Pappardelle.
We finished off with the coffee and cream desert, which came in a decorative clam shell shaped dish and was excellent and very rich.
Overall would definitely come back to this place, the food, vibe, and service were top notch and the handmade pasta is delicious.
Good new Italian place in La Jolla. Lots of outdoor seating. I don't recommend the lemon room in the back as it's dark and noisy. Service is ok but staff didn't know much about wine
The most delightful dining experience I have enjoyed in a long time. From the moment you walk in you immediately want a martini and to start dancing (the music is AMAZING). LOVED the salads and pastas. My favorites were the arugula and the duck pasta. Looking forward to my next Marisi experience.
Move over Nine-Ten and George's; there's a new destination restaurant in town, and it's phenomenal. Outstanding service, lovely decor, extensive and well-thought out libations list, and sensational food. The preparation, flavor combinations and textures were exquisite. If you're one of those people who never orders chicken at a restaurant because it's too boring, the roasted jidori half chicken will convert you into an ardent chicken worshipper. The artichoke appetizer with mint aioli was unique and delicious, and the rigatoni was fresh and zesty. The coffee and cream dessert was a fresh spin on tiramisu served in a shell. Reservations strongly recommended.
