This place is amazing. By far the best tacos in Hillcrest, and contender for the best in all of San Diego. Friendly service, clean and sharp interior, fun vibe. Patio seating is a nice spot to watch the city go by, on a vibrant corner of town.
The salsa bar is an important part of any taco establishment. All the salsas here are handmade with creative and unique compositions. Each one is worth trying.
The tortillas are hand made and pressed, tender but still holds the taco well.
The ribeye taco is the star of the show. A really tender and good quality ribeye, well seasoned, a cheese crust on the tortilla, and a light topping of onions and guac, which allows the beauty of the meat to shine through. Well thought out.
The El Presidente taco had fresh shrimp with a nice lil sear on it. Set on top of the chili pepper with some chipotle and crema. I've had this style before, but never this good. This is how it should be done.
The Birria taco was nice, and they even gave me a small side of consomme when I asked.
Was even offered a complimentary Jamaica! A really nice touch.
These tacos are well worth the money, you will leave this place very happy. Highly recommend!
This place is solid. The food is so good and their hot sauces should all be tried. You can get a super healthy dish or something covered in cheese with meat, all options are amazing. Everyone working here was amazing and so polite and helpful. I can't wait to come back.
This place is on fire! Everything I’ve ever ordered has been phenomenal! It’s an elevated Mexican food experience, but still casual and authentic.
When I first saw that some of the tacos were $10, I was taken aback… until I saw them. HOLY COW! Many of them would be full meals by themselves. Particularly the signature “Steak & Bones” taco that’s essentially an entire steak!
The nachos are truly addictive. And for those eating low carb or keto, they have bowl options with salad and/or cauliflower rice as the base topped with all their flavorful proteins and add-ons.
They have a nice beer selection, but as someone who doesn’t drink, I appreciate that they have a self-service soda fountain and don’t charge $4 for a 12oz canned soda like many places do these days.
I cannot cannot recommend this place enough. It’s a little off the beaten path when it comes to Hillcrest foot traffic, so it’s quiet and cozy at times. I’ve been telling friends about it for a few months, and everyone that tries it raves about it and immediately texts me photos of their food. LOL
Try it. You will not be disappointed!
Most amazing TJ tacos. Asada was amazing. Cochinita... amazing. Owners were super nice and accommodating. They have taco Tuesday special, $3 per taco. Definitely going back to try the other tacos too!
My new favorite causal restaurant and maybe taco shop in general. Incredible quality AND portion for the price. Salsas all slap, they make everything in house, including tortillas. So good. Such a cool spot
