Numbing fish, Triple C cauliflower, and green beans. Get after it!
And definitely, absolutely, clearly, truly do not forget the lava buns.
BE HERE
Had dinner here to celebrate Chinese New Year's Eve. Dumplings were fantastic! Would come back for more. ????
???? and ???? selection is excellent. Especially compared to other Chinese restaurants. Had a nice Belgian IPA.
Ordered four vegetarian dishes and they were all good. Very spicy. Tofu was excellent.
Another table ordered the mapo tofu and I would try that next time! ????
Overall, had a great dinner.
Pretty decent spot for Chinese (especially spicy Chinese) in the Castro. I got the shrimp and chive dumplings which were yummy. An order comes with 12 and is $13.75. The service was fast and friendly and the environment was casual and clean.
Don't see the reason for their good ratings on Google. Food is mediocre just like the service. If you can get passed the flys circling and hovering around the bar / beers on draft... You can stomach the food. Dishes are kind of bland. Portions are somewhat stingy. Steamed and pan fried dumplings are just OK. The chicken and eggplant was salty saturated in oyster sauce. Beef and green beans was decent with a lot of onions. Location is secluded from the rest of the Castro which is nice and neighborly.
The dim sum is just incredible. You can't go wrong. Then you add one of the more extensive Belgium beer selections in the Bay Area, it's a brunch match made in heaven for me. The only negative I have: I wish they had a spicier chili/hot sauce option. I'm certainly no crazy spice chaser, but I like a little kick, and the chili sauce they have just has no kick.
