If you're ever passing by Central California for any reason, visiting Madonna Inn is a must! You do not even have to stay a night at Madonna to enjoy the Inn! They have plenty of themed public areas that are perfect for any photo-op! Heck, even their bathrooms are themed! The gift shop upstairs is also a great place to grab some unique souvenirs!

But their cakes... their cakes are really something else! My top three favorite flavors are: the pink champagne, for those who love lighter, and less sweet cakes, the toffee nut, for those who love decadent, sweet and mix texture cakes, and the good ol' classic carrot cake! There is definitely a cake for all taste buds! The actual cake is fluffy, soft and moist (sorry). Never had a dried or stale cake from here! Each slice is 9$ and could easily feed up to two people! I like them so much I can eat one by myself.

Definitely 10/10 cakes and ambiance and theme!

Madonna Inn in San Luis Obispo is spectacular in its quirkiness & the degree to which this place embraces the whimsical side of life. You can tell when you drive up, & view the pink light posts and pink accent touches on the buildings, that this is no ordinary place.

When you walk inside, it's as if conjoined twins Liberace and Miss Piggy decorated this place with the over-abundance of fake flowers draped over furnishings, hot pink upholstered seating, pops of gold everywhere. It's a full-on questionable fashion overload!

Their restaurant is a great place to stop and grab a meal, or coffee. Madonna Inn's bakery is exceptional! All the cakes they make here are delicious and decorated so beautifully. My favorite here is their carrot cake. You may consider spending the night here, as well. The Madonna Inn has quirky rooms, done in different varying themes, like The Rock Room, decorated all in rock & fabricated rock.

Speaking of rock, a noise activated rock wall swings down in the Men's Room here.
The sound of men urinating triggers this movement & the flow of water down this rock face, so your pee is flushed away by a rock waterfall. Almost like something in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory! You really have to see it to believe it. A young woman wearing a camera asked me if I could go in & check to see if the coast was clear inside the Men's RR. I popped my head in, checked, & told her nobody was inside, then she quickly ducked inside and took some pictures

    Love this place!!!

We stayed in the caveman room and had a BLAST. So much DETAIL in every corner. The food was delicious. My boyfriend's first time there and we were so happy that the prices were great and that there was a dining area for to-go food. The ambiance is very kitschy and feminine. So fun!
The customer service is so-so. Half of them seem to be mildly depressed. The people in the gift shops and front desk are very friendly and helpful, most of the servers and bartenders are checked out and would pass us around to order from someone else, so that they didn't have to take our order (it might even have been the manager?) The man who brought us our breakfast to our room was wonderfully friendly. I am a bartender myself, back home.
We couldn't have been more pleased with the cleanliness and the whimsy of our room and the pool/jacuzzi which stayed open during covid.
    Thanks Alex and Phyllis!

I've heard about this hotel my whole life and stayed here recently. Every room has a unique design. Lots of hand crafted woodwork all over the property. The bakery is simply amazing. Friendly, welcoming staff. Worth a visit to check out this very unique property.

My family and I were fortunate enough for a quick getaway during the phase 2 reopening. This trip was on my dad's bucket list and it did not disappoint! The rooms were lovely and despite our heavy-footed neighbors upstairs the stay was lovely. My daughter and I met a few nice people at the pool (at a distance), the garden path leading to the pool and the waterfall are picturesque.
We had a lovely dinner, the staff was excellent and the steaks were delicious. The cafe was delightful, I enjoyed several pastries and they were all wonderful. The hash and eggs were top-notch.
We also went horseback riding in the morning on our last day. It was my first time on a horse and my dad is an older guy but the ladies at the stables were so kind and patient. We had a great time on the trail and it was a fantastic 1st experience.
On our way out my sister and I couldn't resist going to the gift shop to buy a few of the glasses/goblets for ourselves - they were too cute!
I look forward to coming back when things have settled down to make an appointment at the spa and maybe stay a day or two longer.
