I had breakfast and my companion had lunch. We had a table where we could look into the dolphin pool since the restaurant is nestled into the aquarium. The food was good, service pleasant and atmosphere delightful.
Food was good but Mexican style eggs a lot different from Huevos Rancheros I might have in USA.
Amazing little spot with excellent food and real quality ingredients. Service is great too. Will definitely go back when visiting HMB.
Dad's is a cool, small place, as it's an extension of a train caboose. There's a very casual dining area with bar stool seating. The kitchen is up the stairs at the top of the caboose. We had a hamburger and runny egg sandwich, a hen o' the woods mushroom and runny egg sandwich, and mac and cheese with crispy rice topping. The food tastes good flavorwise and quality-wise. It is a true luncheonette with a limited menu and limited hours. When we got there in the afternoon they were out of homemade potato chips and herb salad, but we felt that that added to the charm and specialness of the place. Super recommend!
Amazing food and service! It gets quite busy so come early, especially if you want to try their homemade potato chips (which they typically run out within a few hours of opening). Highly recommend trying the mac and cheese on the side as well, their toasted rice topping makes it a very unique dish and well worth it. The burger was amazing and worth the wait! The location is quite unique too, run out of an old train car with an attached patio. There is not very much seating available, but you can always take the food to go and enjoy at a nearby beach if the weather is nice. Highly recommend making a stop here whenever you are in Half Moon Bay!
