“Once in a while, you find a restaurant that serves great food with a great attitude, and your soul yearns for you to come back again. I'm happy to say, this is one of those places for me. Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Atmosphere: 5/5 Price: 5/5 (Inexpensive) This little cafe doesn't look like much from the outside, but you'll be instantly amazed the moment you walk in. Our waitress, Lulu, is one of the nicest people I have ever met in my life. Aside from providing the best service I've ever experienced, she went above and beyond by telling me (a new grad student) a lot about the area. It's nice to feel that someone cares about you. The food itself was beyond outstanding. The imperial pork chops were the best. Coming right out of the fryer, they were really crispy and tangy. The fish in chili oil goes great over rice. If you're looking for an authentic Szechuan dish, this is it. It may be too spicy for some, but you can ask to have it mild when you order. Overall, the food and service were both outstanding. It's about 7 miles away from my campus, but that's not going to stop me from coming back.”

First off, you can tell that this is a family-run business and that the owner really loves what he's doing. I went on a Friday so he had several types of square pizza available, I tried the cheese and pepperoni. Both were delicious and filling!! I will definitely be coming back in the future!”

“Amazing Chinese food right in the heart of San Carlos. The restaurant itself is simple, but the food is great and the owner is very friendly. Another advantage is that it stays open late, so if you need a late night "snack", this is the place to be. Our favorite dishes are the chicken corn soup, The king Pao chicken (which can be made non-spicy for those who don't like it hot - still pretty tasty) and the beef with broccoli. Enjoy!”

“These guys are the best!! We called and ordered 20 pizzas and asked them to have them made and delivered within an hour 15 and they said "Absolutely, no problem!" All 20 pizzas were cooked to perfection and the driver even brought a full pack of napkins and paper plates without us requesting. Truly incredible customer service and delicious pizza to top it off! “The food was tasty. I got the turkey burgers (cowboy and classic styles) and sweet potato fries. My husband got the beef burgers and onion rings. Daughter got kids chicken strips. All tasted good, but my fries were a bit cold. The unfortunate thing was the service. The food took about 25 mins to come out, they couldn't remember which sides went with what burgers (tho it was printed on the ticket), they forgot my daughter's chicken strips. The staff was very apologetic and accommodating, but the kitchen and wait staff seemed inexperienced. It wasn't overwhelmingly busy. (There were only a handful of groups eating there, and they already had their food.) I'm hoping that our experience was just a fluke. The food was good enough that I would go back, but if the service is that poor again, it's not worth the wait.”

“Poncho Villa's is what it wants you to think it is - a straight forward Mexican food restaurant with minimal frills. You enter greeted by a 20 foot long (6 meter) counter overflowing weigh treats of taco and burrito fillings behind a glass sneeze guard. There's a team of eight or so people making trays of food. You typically order at the counter, but you might order at the registers. Be prepared to order as the line is usually long. Know what fillings you want in your dish, what kind of beans you want and if you're eating in or taking out. The tamales are huge, and rich, but the filling can be pretty dry. The tacos are huge and the tongue filling is wonderful. But overall, you're not here for high quality food. Your here for cheap, mountains of Mexican food. You get it here.”

“The Pesto Chicken Sandwich is fantastic, and the self service pickle bar spot on! Our Ham, Bacon and Pineapple Pizza was excellent on day 2, and the crust still retained its style and didn't get soggy! The crust is thinner, crisper and chewier than your typical fare thanks to the style of oven they use. (Not a chain belt) After so many experiments with expensive independents to cheap chains, Village Host is a blessing in the rough. Good luck parking! That is the challenge.”
